Stick vibration!

****! (scuse me)

Again, i'm noticing vibration in my stick. The last time the complete driveaxle was replaced because things got messed up. With that a new clutch was installed. This is now about 8-9 months ago. Since a few weeks i noticed a vibration pretty much all the rpm-way. I only get the vib during high load and especially in low revs when the engine struggles to get to the turbo-boost. When the boost hits the vib is gone, but at higher revs 5-6000rpm the vibration is there again. It feels different as before. The vibration is much less intense.. I think something is a bit loose somewhere down the line to the gearbox as i can also notice a bit of play when i shift up or down. The vibration is even a bit hard to feel when you put your hand on the stick, it really seems it resonates from somewhere...

Any ideas on what could cause this loose, vibrating stick?

Vibration is probably coming from the tranny or torque tube. The shifter mounts on the torque tube and the linkage to the tranny mounts on the top of the transaxle casing in the rear. Tranny mounts new? Pin on the shifter worn? Tranny linkage on the top of the tranny worn? If these check out then your torque tube bearings could be causing some vibration...I've had an annoying vibration or 'resonance' as you call it through the shifter and pedals at 3k RPM ever since my last clutch job was done. I want a turbo torque tube.

I had that 3k rpm vib as well, but that was a real heavy, loud vibration that you could really feel in the stick. It appeared the top bearing of the my driveaxle was gone. Tube has been replaced: gone. Now i have a much lighter vibration which seems to be amplified somehow in the stick...

I've got a palm buzzer too. Moves around a lot also. New motor mounts didn't help, tho it made the motor smoother otherwise. Tranny mount will be next I suppose.

Check the condition of your shifter to shift rod connection. The join between the two wears out over the years. FRWilk did a nice little piece about replacing the shifter and drilling out and using some brass tubing as a bushing.

I tried it, so far it is great.

A 3k vibration can also be caused by the lower balance shaft pulley being installed wrong. There are two key slots in it. When installed correctly, the letter "O" should not be visible in the round cut-out of the front washer.
