What upgrades for a new 944 owner?
New to the 944 world, been an air cooled guy up until now. I'm considering a purchase and I'm wondering, what upgrades do people like for a 95% street / weekend car? Exhaust, shift linkage, suspension, etc...

hmm... first thing is to bring the car totally up to date on maintenance. then you can have a reliable driver.
upgrades? sky and $$ is the limit. I run my 951 mostly at DE and limited street driving so I may not be a good source of suggestions for you. check out Raymond's project.... ![]() http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-924-944-968-technical-forum/834244-86-944-street-racer-part-time-track-day-project.html enjoy. now if I can just get my 78 930 done.... someday... someday...

Thanks for all the suggestions guys!
I was hoping parts would be a little more economical than for my 911...doesn't seem to be the case unfortunately. Which is amazing considering the difference in market value of the cars! |

Junk yard sway bars, new bushings, tires, and decent shocks for that car should be quite inexpensive, and a great start.

More votes here for the round throttle cam and 4 degree offset cam key (can be had from 928 motorsports).

What parts are you finding to be expensive? From what suppliers? Parts seem pretty reasonable to me.

Doing the same treatment for the 944 is basically the same price. But, it could be that I'm just not yet familiar with the best places and values to buy things for the 944. |

I went from a couple of 911's to the 944 S2 The 944's are great cars - and if you tear into it - you will see the similarities. I went with Ground Control coil overs and eliminated the torsion bars. M030 sway bars. While apart for a clutch - I also did some preventative replacements. The brakes are much cheaper - many of the parts still carry the porsche premium. Wheels are easier to find - the AC actually works |
