Dragged in yet another project.

Yes, this is the one that was for sale on the Parts Forum that needs an engine. Dad and I went down Saturday to rescue it from all the people who wanted to buy it just to part out. I really hate to cut up a perfectly good car unless it's a last resort.

The body is in great shape, just a couple of dents and dings. Nothing really major. The clear coat is peeling and it will need to be repainted at some point. The interior is typical of 944's this age that haven't been kept inside for most of it's life. Dash is cracked just like all my others. Carpet is in good shape but needs to be cleaned. Windshield is also cracked. It only has 106K miles on it though. I was hoping it would be in better shape but I'm not complaining. It's just going to take a little longer to get it up to snuff before transferring my 8 valve engine and trans (mine is an LSD) from my 87 N/A to this car to drive while I'm working on the body (rockers) to prevent losing it to rust.

The silver 88 S in the background is now running as of Thursday evening. I finally go the oil cooler changed out again after the first failed attempt. I was almost certain the first failure was a combination of trying to use the cheap (and undersized) plastic reproduction OPRV alignment tool and a bum cooler element. I had patched an obvious hole in it with some JB Weld. That held but it popped another hole somewhere because of the excess oil PSI in it that is unreachable and cannot be repaired. I broke down and bought a REAL Porsche alignment tool (NEVER EVER EVER use the plastic ones. They just aren't the correct size. Lesson learned) Still a bit of work to do to it also. It also needs paint and some interior work.

Anyway, I be posting updates as they occur. These could take a while.. LOL

Kudos for saving another one.

In no time you will be running a Porsche Rescue Center just like the rest of us!

Good for you! I can only afford to rescue Dachshunds now. Ginger Mae. She loved, I mean absolutely loved, to ride in her '84 944 before she passed. She even had a song - "My car, my car, my car. I love to ride in my car! I'm a German dog with a German car. My car, my car, my car!" Keep up the good work!

fiily, tell me more about that engine. Where are you located? I'm in extreme SW VA. I'll see what I can come up with in the next few months.

Update: I just saw where your location is New Hampshire.. I bit far to drive from here.
