UNLOADING stash of 924/944 parts

Hey all I still have a large Lot of 924/944 parts I need to unload. Basically parted about 8 944 cars and a few 924 in that mix. Everything was cleaned bagged with an ID # and boxed up in high density 10 -20 parts per box. This was back in the photo bucket days and they shifted on me and I lost all my sold VS unsold digital registry. Its basically a wall of shelves 6 ft tall and 15 ft long. Thoughts are to try and re shoot all the items or at lease shoot them based on box content then refresh-new box and remark likely take me 1-2 days and a bit of a pain and really in no rush but on my radar.

Do you have a driver's fender that fits a 1984 NA model? Thanks in advance for making this stuff available to the unwashed masses!

Had a good chuckle over you using that expression, seems perfect for describing a bunch of mechanical geniuses! - The "great unwashed" is another similar one. ;-)
Happy Friday.

Up

Back at this we need to move these parts. I will get on pulling the parts and shooting them and re boxing and stacking on a pallet likely 3 pallets maybe 4.

Yes "Monkey Wrench" my side of the bed looks more unwashed than my wife's side at times. Why we have washing machines and pissed off wives...

I wonder if making an "unboxing video" or a few of them might help, that way its a lot less photos. put the camera on a tripod , open each box and take things out then put them back?

it would be as if others were watching you go through the boxes describing what you know about each part. you might do a series so each upload is not too huge, try one box first? see if you can upload it to youtuube? number the boxes, if you get a reply you can always find the box again. and then take separate pics of whatever they need. its not hard to freeze video One can then always use "print screen" then dump the screenshot image into a graphics program like Microsoft paint and save it as a jpeg.

the videos could be a bit dry to watch, maybe find a cute lady to do it or make it a bit entertaining with a bit of humor.. I'd avoid the super annoying music in your intros , i know the music choices make me hit "skip" quite often. you could suggest what things are worth, or what its from or why they may need it , if it's informative people will watch to learn stuff.

another idea is a reverse auction , say you start at 200 bucks a box,( as an example) then reduce it by lets say for example 10 % per week. If someone wants something they have to pay and you remove it from the listing after receiving payment. you might have to pull things if they mail payments or take them off straight away if they do e- transfer payments. Just general suggestions , you make your own rules.

otherwise if it's too much they can wait, no bargaining.. If one waits too long someone else grabs it. at the end you are pretty much giving stuff away but it's been picked over.. the 200 dollar boxes perhaps had the more desirable stuff in them so they went first.. It just saves a bunch of paperwork , pricing stuff, naming photos. you can sell it individually if you accept offers, then shoot a new video of whats left..

another option is to unload it all to a reseller, there is a guy selling used 944 parts that has a website with realistic pricing. a website like that takes time and maintenance. maybe he could flip it all.

Move them parts out

Thanks Monkey wrench great ideas ! Thank you I need all the help I can get . I have some BMW e32 parts as well as some 968 AC and brake parts in there as well so maybe I can separate them . I was thinking of just laying out a tarp, do a unboxing shoot the tarp with parts shown and repack with a new box as some of the boxes are a bit tattered.

I have all this in a Harbor Freight `10x17 tent like shelter, My wife has it nicknamed as my clown tent. I intended to use it as a temp paint booth but 2much stuff in and the covering is starting to fail in spots so in my best interest to get on it. I may get in there and take some pictures so I have a better feel of how long this may take me . I think its five 3 ft wide shelf units with 5 shelves 5-8 boxes per shelf 100 boxes min about 4-8 parts per box.

I was grabbing the 944 cars for the Fuchs initially then went deeper into engine trans brake parts . most of that all sold . Then broke down all the other bits, they were all cleaned up and bagged so great for someone with inventory space this stuff will get more valuable as time goes on. I just don't have the band width to sit on it.

Good afternoon,

Any chance of an 047 121 094 coolant pipe support for a 924 hiding in your 'treasure trove' (I call it that, but the wifely unit uses other terms for mine, mostly unprintable in these forums)?

Rgds,

Brian
