I remember seeing one of these engines being built about 15 years ago and they are special indeed, block looks mostly the same however the internal bores are slip fit on bottom of block with the tops having a flat side that mates to the other barrel so they can slip one or all four of the barrels out with a mallet for quick piston changes after pushing the limits of internals with 550-600hp I imagine they ran boost to somewhere over 25psi regularly

If I remember right the rods in the later cars are titanium like the 962 was

1986 Porsche 944 Turbo is $120,000. – 650 hp and 2300 lbs. Tube Frame structure – *they only made seven of them. 944 GTR.
I have Not been able through my research that compares to these documents.Please message if interested. More pics available.

Great Information, but I thought only 6 were built?

7 sounds correct to me. There was also a spare chassis that was finished later as a normally aspirated 968 and raced in IMSA GTU.
