968 engine info / 944S replacement?
I have a '87 944S... with bent valves. (ARGHHH)
I am considering yanking the engine and planting a used 968 engine in. From what I understand, it should pretty much drop in. Not positive about CPU changes. Anyone have any knowledge on this? Anyone have a decent used 968 engine for sale?

It'll drop right in with no problem. Do a search for 968 conversion, there is a guy who did it and has a website with pics documenting the whole swap.

Your going to need the DME from the 968. Also unless you source a 968 torque tube as well, you will need to keep your old torque tube and bellhousing from your current engine. Your also going to need a 944S2 flywheel and S2 sensor bracket.
If you use the 968 torque tube, you will be able to use the stock 968 flywheel and bellhousing, which is an advantage because its a two piece part making the clutch job much easier.

Got bored and I dug up the website on the 968 engine conversion. The owner seems to be really cool, posts on rennlist under Matt O. so if you have any questions I'm sure he'll be glad to help you out.
