'88 will not idle and will not rev

Attempting to get my '88 S4 back on the road after 2 plus years in garage with no start problem.

Work so far:
Drain and clean tank and lines
New fuel pump, filter, strainer and sender
Rebuilt injectors and replaced rotted vacuum connections

Car now starts but will not idle. Giving it some throttle it likes 1,400 RPMs, smooth no misses, but go higher and it starts running rough and missing. Take foot off the gas and it dies.

What are next troubleshooting steps I should take? Have fresh plugs to go in and will check fuel pressure regulators and vacuum check with Mitivac.

TIA

As an update, Roger at 928rus is taking care of me, sending a loaner LH brain, a reman MAF and injectors. Many thanks to him for being there for me and the 928 community.

Distributor cap, rotor and wires helped me immensely. Not a lot of dollars and you're already in this far!

I also had trouble years ago with valve cover gasket fail and oil present in the spark plug sleeve and wires were saturated at point of contact on the plugs.

Not sure any of that might help...
