Precision Motorwerks did all the work, my VISA may never be the same again, but I have little doubt about it starting and running very well.

Original idea was going to be a quick and cheap swap and drop, dropping my running motor from my 84 Euro AT I am parting into the 85 Euro 5 spd with a TB fail motor that I bought. Well the heads stayed on, but I decided while its on a motor stand to pull the intake, clean everything and put in new seals, rubber, etc. along with a TB and WP. OTOH zero was done for anything but practical improvements, no cosmetic work, just stuff like Carls new oil thing, silicone oil pan gasket, motor mounts.

I am also thinking the less polish the more likely it sails through smog testing. Maybe the next motor I can get some hands on, get a few things painted or polished, but this is a closed hood driver, not a show car. Plenty of work for me to do on this one with the interior too.

I think your right DanglerB. I don't remember seeing anything like rogue is showing there in my early 16v.

I went by today to try and clean up the bay a bit, but the motor was already installed and asking for more new hoses etc. Next week maybe it starts.

Looks good. That's a heck of an engine. I always wondered how well those would take to pressure...

10.4 CR isn't the first place I would go looking for a good motor to add boost to. Freaky boost might work though with a 87+ short block and Euro top end, something like 7.5 CR

A used good shape S4 motor isn't that much different in cost from a used good shape Euro S2, and the LH 2.3 brain of the S4 has decent knock detection.

OTOH a simple low boost blower like the Eaton with a custom box intake might do very well on a Euro S. Fatten up the low end, maybe do around 400 rwhp, hard to say.

I'm expecting this stock Euro S2 with a Y pipe and high flow cats to be in the 270 rwhp area. Once I have a feel for what that is like, then I will figure out where to go next.

your Euro makes nearly the same HP as a 32V'er, so what's to prevent you from blowing it to the same power levels as John's high mileage twin turbo S4?

Nothing, except a fairly large chunk of money---

--Russ
Russ, the reality of 10.4:1 compression WITHOUT MODERN ELECTRONICS is that you cannot reliably run more than 5 psi of boost through this engine. And since 5 psi only gains you a small amount of extra power...supercharging is now an exercise in money spent for little gain. Though I've never tried it, I bet a good set of Hoosiers on the S2 without the supercharger would probably be just as fast as a 5 psi blown version of the same car with 200 treadwear tires. You can put these Indiana racing tires on the back end of a car for $300; a supercharger kit will be between $4000 and $8000.

All I know is that right now, I have 200 treadwear Falken RT-615's on my car, and I cannot floor it in first gear, even from a rolling start. I go about 100 feet, the engine get's into its' RPM range, and the back end goes sideways. Second gear does the same thing at a higher speed.

How the hell do the supercharger people keep from getting sideways on a regular basis?

I bought another spider that I plan to clean up at my leisure and maybe coat etc. to be ready when time permits a swap, or if I decide to build a "hot" 16v.
