Electrical problem

hey there,

just want to ask a question on a problem iv been trying to get to the bottom of that iv been trying to solve for some time with no success. my ignition still wont turn off with the key so I orderd a new switch which i installed recently.bingo the lights on the dash would turn off with the key.great, then after two days problem back again. took a closer look at my new switch and could see that it had been opened and looks to be reconditioned or something.(could this be bad too I thought) Waiting on a another switch to be sent anyway to be sure. the thing is im still not 100% sure its the switch or atleast its not all of the problem cause some times the old switch would work too then wouldnt the same with this new one, it worked, then didnt, then worked for two turns of the key then nothing again.

so I started poking around to see if there was any bad wires/grounds. I had cleaned the grounds previously but had another look. I took off the grounds directly under the dash. the lights on my cluster didnt go out.odd! this has
been my problem all along untill i go pull relay xvi or the battery cable all my ignition lights would stay on. I found that some of the earth wires had a small voltage going through them from 0.01 to 0.13 volts could this be normal? I cant see any live wire touching. I think this could be the source of my problems or atleast part of it?

just to add, my volt meter bottoms out when cranking and jumps all over the place when i switch on the indicators which made me suspect grounds. also my reset for the mileage seems to have started to work which it didnt before but when i push the button the voltmeter bottoms out again and i get a large click from the dash.more like a tud, (well kinda) and the spedo jumps. Is this normal? I just want to see if anyone else has ever had any of these problems and let me know how they solved them. Im going to wait for the switch and see what that solves but wanted to explain the other problems incase they are linked.

lastly just so you know the car does not start with this problem and I dont seem to be getting current to the fuel pump.hope who have read bout this problem before arnt getting sick of me but thanks to those who reply.
