fuse board Question
yo there,
Can anyone tell me what the (W) connection on the fuse board supplys power to? It goes out to the engine bay somewhere but i cant trace it after that. also there are two small black wires on this connection that id like to trace!! they are 2nd down from the top on the pink part of that connection. if i could find out what these do i could maybe solve a problem that iv had with the dash lights not switching off at the key. thanks 86porsche |

For an 86 the W connector, pink section #4 (14 in diagrams) has two black wires, one goes to pin 18 of the LH brain, and the other goes to pin 25 of the EZF brain. The signal is the ignition on from the CE panel relay, I think either XVI or VIII pin 87 (two diagrams each show a different relay number).

danglerb thanks again for helping me out.
i have been poking around the central electrics trying to sort this problem. you know my problem by now! today i had a look at the back of the fuse board and saw that pin 87 is connected to (w) connection 4. when i unplugged the w connection i was able to switch on/off the dash. pin 87 of ezf is getting energised from here for some reason so not allowing the relay to switch.maybe its ment to ya? should it be that 87 energises this and not vice-versa? i have 12v on the central electrics board on that pin 4 getting power from 87 of ezf but also have 12v on the connection part of w which seems to be keeping 87 energised thus not allowing me to switch off dash.all i can think of is that iv two wires touching somewhere and this is why im getting 12v at the end of that connection but cant find where this may have happend. if its not something like this should i suspect my ezf/lh brain? |

Since I am swapping around wiring harnesses on two cars I took my CD of the workshop manual to Kinko's and printed out 100 pages in 11x17 and one 18x30 (86 engine) of wiring diagrams. Let me walk you through the current path, sorry if some things don't make sense, it means they don't make sense to me either and I am just repeating what I see.
Relay XVI is the EZF power source. Pins are as follows; 30) input power, connects to central electric U11 which is a fat wire directly to +battery. 85) control coil, connects to central electric ground point MPV 86) control coil, connects to central electric F25 which goes to alarm system. 87) output power, connects to central electric W14 which goes to EZF and LH. F25 goes to the Separating Plug Alarm System Pin 1 and comes out pin 4, which goes to central electric B23. B23 goes to an internal "buss" labeled 15 Buss15 goes to central electric B11, which goes to ignition switch 15 (A16). Buss15 goes to central electric B14 kick down switch (for AT). Buss15 goes to central electric Relay XV (kick down) pin 15 Buss15 goes to central electric Q11 and Q12 ignition coil power. Buss15 goes to central electric B23 (see F25 above). Buss15 goes to central electric Relay XX Fuel Pump pin 86 control coil. I'd say you need to trace all of those Buss15 connections until you find one that has +12v when it shouldn't. |
