Sharks forsale in Austin?
Anyone know of a recommended Shark for sale locally in/around Austin.
Looking for an '86 or newer good cosmetics. Looking for a solid runner for my wife. thanks, Mike

I have an '84 (just about like an '86...same brakes, nearly same HP, same trans, same body, different seats) that is ready to drive across the country... Other than mine I don't know of a good one I could recommend locally (the other one I like was just sold and was a EURO 82, IIRC). Let me know if you would like to check it out. I am in Cedar Park.

VERY special 2nd Saturday coming up January 8th! The D/FW crew is coming down to see us! We have not had them down in a LONG TIME, so that will be very special. If we are lucky Tony will have his VERY CUSTOM and newly painted GTS here from Rockport and I suspect we will have a few Houston folks join us too.
Now, because the D/FW crew is coming down we are going to meet at a different location that will be easier for them to get to. We will meet at Twin Peaks in Round Rock which is at the corner of I-35 and Toll 45 (the NE corner of that intersection). We will meet at lunch time. I should be there about 11AM. Hope to see you all in two weeks!

ONE WEEK AWAY!
2nd Saturday January 2011 is ALMOST HERE! We should have several folks coming down from D/FW and maybe some folks coming over from Houston and as usual our crew from SA should be coming up! We are going to meet further north (I know for those of you in South Austin this seems like SUCH a CHORE...but remember we have guys driving 3+ HOURS to see YOU...so get off you butts and get up here to Round Rock...it won't kill you and we won't even ask to see your passports as you cross the river! ;-) at the Twin Peaks in Round Rock. AWESOME 2nd Saturday gathering! about 35 people and like 25 cars! AWESOME! We had 12 folks from D/FW come down and 2 from SA come up, so it was a great group! Wish we could have had some of the Houston group over.

FOR SURE! We have the largest 928 Owners Club membership of ANY state actually. We have three active groups in the state too. D/FW, Austin and now Houston has its own leader (though they have been active for a bit over a year w/o one formally named). The SA guys usually come up to Austin, but if they can get all their guys active at the same time they could even have a little group of their own and could probably draw some folks in from Corpus and Del Rio, etc....
We have great weather too (as long as your A/C is working in the summer anyway) so we get to play all year round!

I went to one Sharktoberfest in 2005 at 928 International and really enjoyed that event. How is that event holding up through the years, and what do your clubs in Texas think about the future for our cars.

That is a pretty big question there my friend! Sharktoberfest is alive and well and HUGE as usual! I think the routinely have 100+ 928's at that event! Texas has the largest number of members of the 928 Owners Club but CA is a close second! That said, we are pretty spread out across the state and even though we have more MEMBERS, there are fewer overall 928 owners here, so when we get 25+ cars to an event here (other than OCIC) we are quite pleased! Austin is about the middle ground and that is one reason we do lunches here. That way we can get folks from D/FW, Houston, San Antonio, etc to join us regularly! As to the future of the cars... All I can say is there has NEVER been a better time to own a 928! How many other cars have the performance and cost of used 928's? Even better, how many have so much technical development going on to support them? I think the 928 is the BEST from both of those perspectives. We have the new touch screen center consoles about to come out, we have the flush center console (utilizing the stock gear but allowing for more gauges and touch screen radios), Turbos (front, mid and rear...twin and single!), Superchargers, interiors by Champagne and Budd...all sorts of brake and suspension upgrades. Aftermarket parts and replacement parts galore. It is THE BEST TIME EVER to own a 928, and I see it getting BETTER!

Hello Porsche 928 fans!
It is time again for our monthly ASS (Austin Shark Society) gathering! We are going to meet for lunch in South Austin this month! It is just over a week away on Feb. 12th and we will start to gather around 11AM at Matt's El Rancho. This is an Austin original Tex-Mex place with great history and heritage. Thanks to Tom and the South Austin gang for pointing out this location. I have been there once before for a Porsche Club of America lunch when we had Bill Dollohite come and speak to us about his then under construction racing facility here in Austin (The Driveway Austin as it is called). I think it will prove to be an enjoyable location for us to gather (if the weather will hold out for us!) Here are the direction provided by Jim Stadter. Thanks Jim! Matt's El Rancho 2613 South Lamar Boulevard (512) 462-9333 It's approximately 1.5 miles north of 360 and approximately 2mile south of Barton Springs. For the folks coming from the north down Mopac, you could take the Barton Springs/Zilker Park exit, head east on Barton Springs to Lamar, right on Lamar approx 2mi to Matt's on the left. It's a pretty big place, so it's easy to see. Hope to see you all VERY SOON!

We will be back at our "normal" location for this ASS (Austin Shark Society) GTG... BONE DADDY'S on hwy 183 just south of the intersection with Duval Rd. BD's is on the north bound access road across 183 from the Outback steak house. We do our GTG's at lunch so anyone who might want to come in from D/FW or Houston can get here pretty easily!
