Just a quick update. I got in a few hours of work the other day and have taken off all the intake and am going to go ahead and pull the motor. I decided that it would be best to do this so that I can clean the car and motor the best and it will make changing all of the seals and the TB much much easier. I took a bunch of pictures throughout the process and will be posting them shortly.
I am hoping to have more done Sunday and maybe Saturday morning. I still would really like someone around the Oklahoma City area to come by and check it out. But haven't found anyone around here yet. |
That will be the best way, but I've pulled my Euro Engine with help and I will "never" do it again. For me, it's a recurring nightmare for me ;)
|
Hahahah. I am hoping that mine isn't recurring for me. Also I started another thread on here dano. Could you take a look at it and give me some input on some wiring questions I had?
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-928-technical-forum/649159-looking-82-complete-wiring-harness-some-oklahoma-guys.html -edit- also any tips on removing those metal clips from the wire connectors? I seem to be having problems and have broken a couple connectors. |

If so, you can just buy those connectors at Napa with tails and just crimp or solder the wires to the existing harness. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-928-technical-forum/596633-re-fuel-injectors.html |

When i got my car, the pump was dead. I got on ebay and purchased a walbro pump for my car for $25 dollars. When i got the item and went to leave feedback for it, the price was $250. I love typo's.... Saved me a ton. Haha.
|
Dano, that is exactly what I am talking about. I have found a place online that has them but I think they were more than that. Will doing something like that negatively affect the price of the car in the long run? I have the option of buying a harness from an 84 for the fuel injectors.

I don't think I posted this so here it goes now. Here is something that I aquired just after getting my 928. Theres 1 or 2 in here that I cannot place what model they are. unfortunatelly this has been opened before =( But the cars all look to be in great shape.

All that said, I LOVE a good save, but a 928 save is going to cost a fortune and give you a car that is great fun to drive but is worth very little. Only the lowest mile examples are worth anything serious and by lowest, I am talking well under 10k miles. I hope some day that they will take off in value, but I am not holding my breath for that to happen. Keep up your good work on this car and it will be something you can be very proud of and drive for many, many years to come! |

I know I'm a ways off but I am hoping to be able to learn how to do some of the paint on my own and such if it is possible. I don't know yet. But the car I can be proud of and drive for many years is what I am hoping to achieve. Body and interior are the last of my worries. |
Well here's a bit of an update. I also have some pictures of my intake removal and will post them once I can find the power cable for my camera. I just did my taxes and am looking at getting back more than I planned on. I should have enough to get a complete engine gasket/seal kit from Roger.
If you are reading this roger I''ll be looking at ordering within 2 weeks or so hopefully. This will give me something to do for a while and also provide me with a lot of learning opportunities. I will begin pulling the motor as soon as I can find the time when there is enough light. I do have a large spotlight that might allow me to work at night if it isn't too cold. Would this be a good engine stand to use with this engine? I have read that they can be pretty heavy, esp with the heads still on. I think it would provide enough support for a fully assembled engine. Folding Engine Stand - 2000 Lb. Capacity I think this resealing of the engine will give me something to keep me occupied for a little while. Along with cleaning the engine and engine bay. Then with that done it shouldn't take too much to get her back up and running. |

Good to know. I think that may be the one I look at getting. Or one very similar. I want to find it locally so that I don't have to worry about shipping charges. I'm curious to know the full weight of the engine.... Google here I come....

Picture of the intake off and all the cleaning that needs to be done. Going to clean her up a bit then put her back together. Getting a new fuel pump, will flush the lines and see if she will fire.

Also, make sure you notify the Fire Dept that your car is about to catch fire as well. ;)
Replace those fuel hoses on the Passenger side and the small ones feeding the fuel rails, PLUS all the short one's going to all your injectors. Remove the tank and clean it. then and only then you can disregard notifying the Fire Dept of the Car fire your about to create. |

I was looking at the motor today on my lunch break and did not see any rubber lines going to my fuel rails. Only the 2 on the passenger side by the heads and the ones to the injectors. Any pictures I can use to reference so I know where to look. |
