Leather Rejuvenating Oil?

I was thinking of Rejuving both my 928 cars seats. I see that Leatherique has a kit of cleaner and oil. Do you really "need" to clean it first with their product? Or can i just buy a bigger bottle of Leatherique Rejuvenating Oil and go to town?

Leatherique is a system and consists of Rejuvinator Oil and Prestine Clean. It works backwards from what you might expect. After vacuuming up any debris that's on your seats you treat the leather with the Rejuvinator Oil. This should be done on a hot sunny day so that the heat helps the leather absorb the product which then floats any dirt and contaminants to the leather's surface.

The Prestine Clean is then used to clean off the Rejuvinator oil residue containing the dirt/contaminants.

Finally, you use a clean, damp cloth as a final wipe down. The result is moisturized, clean leather. It's a great product and works best when you follow the directions.

Thumbs up Input>Hide Food

I have used "Hide Food" for over 30 years (available from Pelican> I think) on Germany and British cars. I do it every couple of months; no one I know has ever had an issue with using it. No cheap, but a good solid product for leather seats
Hope it works for you!

I've used both Hide food and Leatherique and like the Leatherique system better.

Hey Leo when I disassembled the whole interior I bought the Leatherique kit. Like mentioned above it works best when used in concert with their other products; i.e. Pristine Clean, color dye, etc. The Rejuvenating Oil is a great product and works well. I use it on all my cars.

I tried out Connolly's Hide Food, now called Hide Care, and I didn't like it. It had a funny way of drawing to a central spot instead of staying spread out in the leather, and then would sweat to the surface. Though my leather jacket takes it well.

I've been using cheaper products off the shelf with much better results for the 928.

Talk to the people at Leatherique, one of them used to post here about his 928 I think, but they will give you the straight dope.

Murphy soap uses some kind of oil or wax, leather uses different stuff, usually glycerine in the cleaners. Saving $3 vs the right cleaner on seats that were like $4k when new doesn't sound like a good plan.

My wife buys our cats there $40 a bag magic cat food at a local feed store, so I go over in the horse section and buy one of each of all the leather cleaning and conditioning stuff.

OTOH the only thing I've used so far is Lexol, cleaner then conditioner.

I just went to MMX Modern Motion eXpress and bought a 16oz pair (oil and cleaner) for total of $47.90

Just use PCA as your coupon code and get 10% off

I'll give it a try and report back with my findings. With PICS of course

Actually that's what I have been using for the past 2 years and it's ok. I just keep hearing miracles done with Leatherique and wanted to see for myself.

Leatherique arrived today and applied it as described in instructions. Apply mega quantities and run in with hand. As you can see by the pics, my S4 Seats in my Euro are Cardboard Like. Very stretched and Dry. We'll see if this is the miracle cure. I also put a plastic bag on just the Passenger Seat to see if there is any difference.

I also used a little over half of the 16oz Rejuv Bottle on 2 Seats.

that be sweet if the tique can penetrate .. it would definately soften.
trouble is the leather pores may not be open to recieve it, if thats the case something has to be used to break the sealants,waxes... down to leather, a degreaser leather deglazer.

if redying a acetone is used but could/does take some dye out, which is ok if redying too.
*SAFETY (emphasized) fumes/ventilation. scrub down dont miss any shineys and repaint with foam brush or spray can dyes .. now evenness coats? then clear coating to protect seal shine . maybe paint that has gloss? anyway

MP urs look great color, im sure its the feeling dry hard, keep us posted on whatcha did and what it does.
