recommendations for adhesive??

I need to glue the vinyl along the upper door frame back to the plastic - does anyone have a strong recommendation for a particular adhesive that I should use?

This needs a picture, I can't guess which part you mean.

I'll try and get a pic - its the molding that runs all along the upper portion of the door (the frame around the window - not the pillar). At the most rearward portion it actually encircles the door lock (the post, not the knob). Sorry - I could have/(SHOULD have) been more clear the first time.

The vinyl has started to peel off the plastic backing (the part that clips INTO the door frame), and is hanging down across my window...

I would also imagine that its worth the effort to remove the old adhesive - acetone, perhaps?

3M Weatherstrip adhesive. That stuff takes a little bit to set up, but once it does. Oh yeah!!!

I used Gorilla Glue on mine. On the window frame piece, I applied the Gorilla Glue and held it in place with spring clamps. The plastic was broken where it encircles the door lock and the Gorilla Glue did a good job of gluing it back together as well.

Be careful with Gorilla Glue as it does expand amd get all over thw place, but it stronger than sheeit.

Right - you have to put only a thin layer of Gorilla Glue on the plastic surface and dampen the cloth backing of the vinyl. After it had dried for a couple of hours, I scraped off the extra glue where it had expanded.

3M super 77 works very well also. Used quite a bit of it at the upholstery shop I worked at years ago.
