Can you help me identify

Hi,

I am a 911 owner because I believe in engines in the wrong place. Lately - probably because of old age, or perhaps because I am getting in touch with my feminine side- I became interested in 928s.

I have tracked down a juicy looking piece of 928 in France. Ahh Le Vin quotidien.....soit...

It is a 90 Manual car. I believe that is a 2 out of 10 chance.

Can you help me out in identifying option codes from this sticker or anything else you can derive from it. With old 911 this is easy. They have no options to speak of....

Thanks already....

I went on 928oc.org dropped your VIN and appears that you are looking at:
1990 928 S4/GT
1196/2592 made
Engine Code M28.47 326 HP, 317 Torque, 14.1 sec for 1/4 mile, 0-62 mph in 5.8, 171 mph top speed, weight 3505
Transmission G28.55 5 speed manual
with options:
M139 - left heated seat
M328- Blaupunkt Bremen Radio
M340- right heated seat
M474 - shock absorber ( sporting ) front and rear

nice car...but then again if your trying to get in touch with your feminine side it would be cheaper (though no less painful) to watch "The Bridges of Madison County"

Thank you so much. I was browsing through Rennlist last night and figured the option codes also start with M.

Am I right in believing that a manual S4/GT is quite rare?

I read somewhere only 20% is manual.

As to Madison county, I am more into Gran Torino. The feminine side can wait.

The car also does not have those side protectors along door and fenders. I get conflictig information.
They where standard and you had to order to get rid of them.
They where not standard but most took them.

I like it without as it shows the clean lines of a 928.

I would say that approximately 4 out of 5 928's were autos, so I suppose that makes the manual transmissions rare.

That is rare.

Any idea if the side protectors are standard factory install or if they are optioned.

This particular car comes without them. So either you had to specify that in period or they come standard without them but about 80% of the buyers checked the box....
