DME Switch Adjustment with Chips

Hello,

I would like to know if anyone here has experience with the best combination(s) of DME switch settings and the Lindsey Racing Chips...

I am wondering if it makes any difference after installing these chips, and whether I should worry about detonation in the state of CA with 91 octane fuel based on the setting.

What sort of effect does the adjustment of timing and fuel have? Since there are 8 different settings, guessing seems like a bad idea.

Educated Thoughts?
Carlos

i am betting that the switch has been obviated with the new chips. for specific answers you will need to talk to the folks at lindsey racing.

The FQS switch on the Lindsey/MAXhpkit chips are like stock in relation to your injector size. Meaning the fueling maps are changed when you change injectors, injector size is NOT selected with the FQS setting. So positions 0-3 starting fully counter-clockwise give you 0%,+3%,-3%,+6% fuel, and positions 4-7 give you the same on fueling, with a 2.77 degree timing retard. If you get any pinging in position 0, switch to position 4, starting at zero.

Regards,
Russell

Russel to your knowledge would that be true of most chips pruduced in the past?

I am going to do some testing on mine to find out, but I don't know what chips they are yet.

I willl test using my EGT and a timing light to see.

It's hard to say for sure because some tuners have used the FQS switches for fuel injector sizing. You can change the FQS swtich on the fly while the car is running. So it's easy to test the behavior with a timing light and AFR meter. If you go up one position and there is no timing change and little fuel change it's probably set up stock like mine. If it goes way lean, then the FQS are used for injector sizing. But as far as I know from what I've seen, the top 4 positions still mirror the bottom 4 on fueling and incorporate the timing retard.

Your mileage may vary...

Regards,
Russell

Thanks.

I got the FQS stuff down pretty good as I use it a lot on the ol 44 s/c car for both fuel and timing.

I am going to check this tonight.

Soon I will be sending you an email regarding an E85 map setup and probably a maxtune order for the 51.
