Just completed 993 spark plug change...
What a bunch of fun that was - not. Prep work as per Robin's site went smoothly, pulling right muffler, bracket, sheet metal, clutch dust tube, etc. Not fun, but straightforward. Note: soend the money on some locking 3/8" drive extensions. Duct tape on the socket and extension came right off and landed in the head. That was fun. Anyway, the locking extensions were a lifesaver.
Pulling the plug wires off is pretty right. I used a small pry bar to lift under the connector, there just wasn't much room to grab them and pull. Trick for intake #6 is to insert the socket, keep a hold on it with two fingers and then slide the locking extension in. There's not enough clearance to get it in with the extension already attached. BTW, the clutch dust hose section from the bell housing was shredded and unresusable. I had to find and cut a radiator hose to replace it. Anyway, after #6 intake is done, the rest is easy. Took about an hour to button the right side up. I did the whole left bank in about 40 min. last night. New rule is anytime the engine is out, plugs will be replaced. I'm not doing it this way again.

Congratulations. That’s not a job I would want to tackle. How long did it take?

Well, I spent a few hours hitting local stores trying to find a replacement for the clutch dust tube and buying the extensions. I'd say a good 5 hrs. if you hit no snags and have every tool you need. I could do it again in 3 hrs.

Guys, I don't surf this 993 section as much as I should, so feel free to PM me if you have any projects and questions. I have done almost everything on my 993 or those of friends, so I can give some shortcuts and warnings in addition to the stuff on Robin's site.

I did the plugs while I had the motor out.
It was a snap. But, being hardcore, I replaced the valve lifters with the motor in the car. So, I know how hard that upper right area can be. Try removing the valve cover. You can barely "feel" the allen bolts under the steering pump, let alone remove them. But it is doable. Just study up on your curse words. Removing the engine is not all that hard. If you have a lift.
