964 clutch/flywheel upgrade question
hi pelican-land! does anybody know if a 997 gt3 rs flywheel is a direct replacement for a 964 flywheel, or know of any other factory upgrades? i have seen some 996 cup clutches with 964 part numbers, etc so was wondering if anybody knows the run-down on what clutches and flywheels can be used with no or little conversion. please let me know, and thanks in advance!

I believe 964 and 993 are inter changeable.

If you do a LWF, you can probably use the standard PP, but it does take a different sprung hub disc otherwise it will rattle cruising down the road however the disc is twice the money, a different guide tube, different TOB, and pilot bearing. The sprung hub will only rattle under hard loads at slow speeds with the LWF.
Technically it should the the matching LW PP, but that is $1200 vs about $340. When all said and done it ends up being about as much as a DMF clutch with flywheel replacement if you dont do the LW PP. The sort answer is no, you do it all one way or the other, and you absolutely have to change over most of the componets to the other style. The stuff doesn't physically fit otherwise. If you are going to do it there should be a reason and the reason is obvious so there shouldn't be any reason to cheap out and not do the LW PP. Then it is about $900 more than the DMW Flywheel and clutch kit. It will be a few hundred more every time you do a clutch thereafter as well. Last edited by Makmov; 01-24-2013 at 05:02 PM.. |
