964 Speedometer intermittent failure
The speedometer on my 964 has been failing intermittently. It seems to happen the most on colder mornings. When I restart, it usually works again. When this happens, the spoiler light is illuminated. Any thoughts?

Typically fixing the speedo issues are fairly straight-forward. The areas of concern are usually just the speedo, ABS sensor, or the ABS relay in the fuse box under the bonnet.
Start by cleaning the contacts to the blue ABS relay. If not fixed, remove the speedo and clean those. If not fixed, clean the connector contacts for the left front ABS sensor. Checking those will at least ensure it's not a simple issue, and it's free, quick and easy.

A couple of months ago this happened on my '91 C2, but the anti-lock brake light was illuminated in addition to the spoiler light. After research it turned out to be the ABS relay in the fuse box in the trunk. Part number 928-615-124-03-M504 . After I replaced it, all has been well since.
