Normally, you push counter-clockwise, the key stops turning and the door unlocks; push clockwise, the key stops turning and the door locks. A couple of weeks ago, there was nothing to stop the key from turning: when inserted into the lock, it could turn in either direction forever.
That said, the central locking continued to work: if I twist the key left or right "just enough" the locks engage and disengage just fine. Until today -- now not only the cylinder won't stop turning, but the central locking does not engage at all! Worse, when I pulled the key out, the whole cylinder lock came out with it (when I got the car years ago, the passenger side lock cylinder was missing altogether.) I appreciate any help or advice. Thanks! |

Help with electric switch on door lock
Thank you all for the help, I got to removing the handle and even putting the bolt back on. The problem now is that I think the little electric switch inside may be damaged, at least it has a small rubbery boot on top of it which is broken; and certainly turning the key doesn't engage the electric locks.
How does one go about disassembling the black plastic part between the red arrows (see attached image)? Is the switch serviceable/replaceable? Thanks!
