Chris,
Thats a great idea! Didn't realize that sections of track could be examined in isolation. Nice! Getting ready to go get the new car tomorrow, so may be distracted for a while ;-)

Tony, No problem!

Just edit the properties of the g-circle graph and change the "Only display if conditions met" flag to be between two time elements!

Since we talked so much about the G circle, I added it to my software. Big a$$ MPEG2 video (about 120MB) on the site. It's really quite a different visualization when accompanying with the video. Here's a sample:

Greg;
That is HUGELY impressive. Watching the video along with the g-circle, I could see immediately how you were balancing the car around the track. If it were me driving, I would find it a massively helpful training aid to ensure that I was getting the most out of the car corner after corner. You can also see how occasionally you were backing away from the envelope and then back to it again, so an opportunity for increased smoothness.

You sold me!

Hey John,
That's Greg's software, but my hands on the wheel of my trusty 911 at VIR last Nov.

Greg's TrackVision is a fantastic tool for drivers wanting to improve. The G Circle was added over the last week, after being inspired by this thread. I'd never looked at the G Circle graph in the Race Tech analysis package until reading your initial posts.

You and Chris can take some credit for inspiring this feature.

I've been dying to try out the Apex software... But most of my video isn't captured so as to be optimal... It's killing me to get in there and find the time to play with it!

Thanks guys. Yes, John and Chris can take credit for the inspiration. I, like Tony, hadn't paid attention to the g-circle until this topic. And yes, I like using Tony's videos. They're much more interesting than mine!

Shameless plug: I'll release around the end of the month, as well as selling Race Technology gear: DL90's as well as their cool new gear. Stay tuned!

Ultimate cool.

What level of acceleration does each concentric circle represent in the "g" circle?

I can see myself using this during lunch to analyze performance! I bet even the F1 guys don't have anything this cool! Ok, they have the cars.

I agree...very cool! I can bet the F1 mechanics after analyzing data are saying to the drivers that they can go faster in specific points on the track.

Keep up the good work everybody!

Inspiration is easy -- Greg it's your persperation (over the software) which is mind-blowing.

Tony -- Great job on the test driver role!

The DL90 (with all of the extra software) has a cherished place on my budget. Now if only I had some more cash to move along to the next step in my engine build-up. Then it's the chassis AND THEN it's time for the DL90.

Is anyone else having trouble playing the 120-meg mpeg? My Mac is saying it doesn't recognize the file type.

MPEG2 is the encoding scheme used on DVDs. You may
need to download a decoder. That's the case on Windows.
