Tire rubbing - tech problem?
Hi folks,
I'm itching to get to an event (been a long winter). My car is still getting the finishing touches though. One problem is that the rear tires rub slightly on the fender lips. Just enough to scuff the sidewall, but not much more. I haven't gotten around to shaving the spacers/finding shorter spacers/rolling the lips and there is an A/X event on Saturday that I want to make it to. Does anyone have any idea if this will cause me to fail tech? Best, -nick

Depends on the level of tech inspection in your region. I would be less worried about passing tech than having the sidewall cut or the tire catch on the fender lip and bend up the fender. Just take a baseball bat and roll the lips. It took me 20 minutes last time I did it.

Unfortunately those thoughtful Porsche engineers use two layers of welded steel on the rear lips of my 931. Ball bat hasn't been able to do the trick.
They aren't nearly close enough to warrant tearing the sidewall or catching on the sheetmetal. But your reply is likely what I would hear from tech. Confirms my suspicion. Thanks, -nick
