Race/convex mirrors and battery cut-offs?

Hey guys, any suggestions on a good convex mirror to get for track days? I don't have a passenger side mirror and want better vision. Also, which battery disconnect do you guys recommend?

Thanks
-Brad

I/O Port Racing sells the mirrors for around twenty bucks. They also have a smaller one, although it's not on their website.

It fit my driving position and cage better than the Longacre mirror.

They have a nice battery kit as well as a bunch of other goodies.

Ok, battery cut-offs.....2-pole? 4-pole? 6-pole? Are all sanctioning bodies in agreement on which to use and where to install? Should I mount in car, out of car?

Thanks for your time!

Use at least a four pole. Check your GCR for mounting positions.

I have the Longacre convex mirror and like it a lot. OMP 4-pole cutoff switch. You need one that will cut the alternator as well as the battery. Tech inspectors may require you to demonstrate it while the engine is revving, in which case a 2-pole battery only switch will typically not shut off the engine.

Thanks guys. I got the Longacre mirror and went with a 6-pole switch. I am considering installation of the switch on the cowl just below the windshield. Or, should I install it where one of the washer sprayers is? Other suggestions on where to install??

Appreciate the replies!

I really like my giant convex I/O port mirror but it is plastic and has image distortion. Does anyone make a better glass one?

Check out the allview mirror link that I posted above. Longacre also makes a very nice set.

Brad,

Install the cutoff in the trunk with a pull cable exiting between the hood and cowl. That way you don't have to mess up that pretty paint.

Sounds like a good idea? Any pics of this setup?

Thanks

Some race organizations require the cut-off switch to be behind the strut towers. Check the rules before you install to ensure you don't have last minute issues at tech.

Mine used to be up front of the brake reserviour and that's not legal for POC. So, when we removed all the crap behind the gas tank, it got moved to a direct mount near where the widers used to be.
