Cayenne S new battery and still having issues
I have been having starting issues on my 04 Cayenne S for quite awhile. It has been taking 2 or more cranks to start the car for over a year. Lately it has been 4 to 5 cranks. A couple of times would only start after jumping it. Not sure if it is a starter or battery issue, so I bit the bullet and bought a battery from the dealer as nobody ships them. Paid over 400 for it. I still have to crank it 2 times on occasion, not all the time tho.... what now??

Sounds like the starter is going out. Take a look at the link below to one of our site's DIY tech articles on the replacement procedure.

I'm going through the same issue now for my 06 Cayenne S, sometimes I turn the key and absolutely no crank. I thought it may have been an electrical short somewhere, always starts on the 2nd crank and starter moves strong. Battery is new (Bosch) and ignition switch as well, I'll replace my starter when the weather gets better, while in there I'll do the thermostat and water pump. I already did my coolant tubes long ago.

Update: I changed out my starter and it’s like new again, starts immediately.
