Anyone had a Cayenne V8 rebuilt or purchased a remanufactured engine?
Is there a reputable Cayenne engine rebuilder out there? There are quite few air cooled guys...what about water cooled Cayenne 4.5 or 4.8 turbos? Now that so many of us have high-mileage cars that we have babied and want to keep for another 10 years, are there rebuilders to give our cars a new lease on life?

Interesting question. There are a lot of engines for sale on eBay. The price is right, unfortunately most are 120,000 miles or more.
A quick search did show that engines from about 2011-2016 were low mile and reasonably priced. Unfortunately the increase in engine displacement would require more than just an engine swap. Did you ask a shop like TRE what it would cost?

I have searched and there doesn't seem to really be anyone out there...although a couple shops advertises bock repairs:
https://928motorsports.com/services/cayenne_block_repair.php https://lnengineering.com/products/watercooled-porsche-cylinders-sleeves-and-pistons/porsche-cayenne-s-turbo.html I would would be afraid of investing in an unused, high-mileage engine...as one might easily end up with no better than they started with (something no one repairs).

Not inexpensive, but the Nicasil finished bores should hopefully hold up. It’s probably better than trying to do an engine swap with all of today’s computer controls.
