Also, read yesterday there's a Michigan connection with the Cayenne. Valeo, a French automotive equipment supplier with headquarters in Michigan designed and supplied the awesome rotating headlamps!

Gemballa, me likes.:D Now how could I go about selling my wife on it, and trading our 4Runner straight across for it? If we have to own an SUV, it might as well be fast.
|
If you want one, get a used one and save the first year's depreciation, which I'm sure is $$$.
|
I have driven the Cayenne base model, it's a fun SUV to drive. The fit and finish is great. DO NOT ! buy a new one. They don't hold their value, infact they fall of the face of the earth as son as you drive off the lot. With plenty of used inventory, and a long factory warranty why go new.
My Brother-inlaw is a dealer of high-line cars, and tell's me they are very soft at all the auctions. Good luck! |
|
Jeeezzz, buy what ever the hell you want. I would however, look for a used one. 10-20 thousand miles or so. Let someone else take the big hit.

Can I jump in and ask what a nicely optioned Toureg costs?
|
The Cayenne may be a great SUV, but what a SUV represents is the antithis of what Porsche has always been about.
An expensive SUV is for mini-van mommy's with child seats in the back filled with many new boxes of shoes scored from the latest sale at the mall, she's yapping on the cell phone admiring her latest nail job while blasting down the road and cuts you off inconsiderately while you are in your 911 forcing evasive manuveurs on your part.BTDT And Porsche stopped racing to make this thing? |

Great. Now we Cayenne owners are being called "rich stupid people". Thanks Isbo. I knew I was stupid, but wasn't really sure if I was rich ......
|
Hahaha. Been called worse.

Curt, how is the asbestos underwear holding up?

I just read a review on SUVs in a truck mag. The new Nissan Armada was like .002 slower 0-60 and 1/4 than the S pepper. Bigger inside, better looking, cheaper, what's to think about?

I went around Portland Raceway as a passenger in a Cayenne S driven by Hurley Haywood......the combination is pretty quick.....
Hurley's comment while he was climbing up the a$$ of a late 911 Turbo: "If I couldn't pull away from a Cayenne with a Turbo, I'd find another hobby.." I'm waiting for the Toureg Diesel... Eric |
Sorry Curt. I didn't mean to offend. :o :o
I forgot that one should never criticise a man's car, wife or dog. |

The impressive factor was that it drove like a sports car and felt like a sports car around turns and etc. Any manufacturer can get 0 - 60 or 1/4 mile times if they choose with a big enough motor. The key is taking a vehicle that can tow 7,000 pounds and make it feel like a sports car in the twisties. Regarding your statement, the same could be said for some Japenese and American sports cars and probably a few sedans in relation to older 911s. Bigger, roomier, just as fast or faster in the 1/4 mile and cheaper. But that is not why we Porsches is it whether they are old Porsches or are new Porsches. I also wouldn't jump to a conclusion that the Nissan is preferrable simply based on a review in a truck mag. I would rather drive the vehicles and experience the vehicles to make an informed decision, then again I like to keep an open mind when dropping my $$$ on a vehicle. |
