Anyone running the Evo Intake?

I looked at this intake, and was wondering if anyone here is using it? It says "Oil free', but I was wondering if it really is, as well as any noticable improvement.

When I had BMC filters on they gave me a smoother throttle response and sounded great (in addition to the IPD intake), but I'm not using them due to the Oil.

Cheers,

Bob

I've been thinking about purchasing the EVO V-Flow more my car, but I really want to get the ECU reflash to go along with it. Of course, at that point, I'd want to buy the IPD plenum, the secondary cat deletes, and a new exhaust....

Got the IPD (on) and cat deletes (waiting to go on), and I'll wait on the ECU. As far as exhaust, with the cat bypass I don't think you'd need an exhaust.

What do you think of the IPD Bob? I've read a lot of conflicting stuff about whether it is effective or not.

With the BMC air filters (off now) the throttle response was much better than stock, and it sounded great. The intent was to add the cat bypass and call it a day, I think it would have been sweet, but now I think I'll look at the EVO intakes IF they are not oiled.

Of course my concern is the warranty so I might wait until it's over.

I've read that the cat bypasses without an ecu remap don't help much. I think the EVO intakes are not oiled since their site mentions nothing about oiling it; only washing it with soapy water once a year (the type of maintenance I prefer).

Like you, I like to keep my cars stock until the warranty is out.. which for me is November of 2011... at that point I'll probably splurge and pick up the intakes, cat bypasses and an ECU upgrade.. 500+ hp in a tow vehicle has got to be nice I'm sure.

If I believed the numbers to manufacturers put out just the addition of intake and exhaust stuff would be around 60HP....

What kind of ECU are you liking?

I agree with you, I often wonder how many people think the HP numbers just stack? After having a turbo car I'd never slap parts on it w/o a new ECU tune. Heck a simple ECU tune by itself can unlock a massive amount of hp...

My mod list would be something like this:

EVO intakes $700
IPD plenum $1000
Secondary cat bypass $600
EVOMSit reflash $1800

Get out for under $4500 and it should give ~540 HP / 550 TQ according to EVO's and SharkWerk's dynos.

Of course, I catch myself going "should I spend it on the Cayenne or the 911?" and the 911 usually ends up winning.
