01 996 Turbo - What is it worth?

I am looking at a 01 996 turbo with 60k miles.

One owner, well cared for and never tracked.

What is the value range for this model?

Tippy or manual? Options? Color? Mods? Tune? Up to date with maintenance? Spoiler rams? 2nd gear pop out? Radiators? Slave cylinder?

No answer is possible without that info.

Its a 6 speed. White. Don't know about maint, but likely done if at 60k.

Was there a radiator problem with these?

Will road test it this week. As far as I know its bone stock.

Coupe will be lower to mid $40s if its maintained and needs nothing.

No, but maybe you are thinking of the coolant fittings on the engine case. They are glued in and on tracked cars they have been known to fail. The fix is to pin or weld them, but it's nothing urgent. Most people do it as part of a clutch install.

ive heard that some track groups are requiring the lines to be addressed if you are to participate.

So when the motor is pulled for a clutch these coolant fittings are addressed as a precaution?

Any idea of the extra cost?

Roughly $3.5k-$4k at a reputable shop.

Len, pinning coolant lines and changing a clutch are DIY fixes for you, aren't they?

BTW, the white 996 Turbo is highly desired. The color brings a premium. Agreed on the lower-to-mid $40s value.

In test driving it, decelerate in 2nd gear a couple times. The earlier 996TT trans is prone to pop-out.

The vast majority of 996tt owners don't touch them, pretty much only the track rats do them. When I inquired for my car two different shops told me they wouldn't recommend doing it unless I was planning on tracking the car hard.

Coolant lines aside, radiators are one thing that sometimes pukes, on the 996tt. The most common one is the clutch slave cylinder though.

Some pre-03 cars report a "second gear pop out " issue, which while not extremely common is pricey to fix.

If the car checks out and has good records, definitely mid 40s at least, white is a rare and very sought after color on 996tts.

01s trade at a slight bit of a discount partly due to a never fully settled debate on whether 02 and later cars had a stiffer chassis.

Having said that, from memory the silver one that went for more than 70k when my car was on BaT was an 01.
