“Get loose as I boost the juice Once more for the people who wanted it And didn’t know what’s in store, I’ve got another big hit Of course a Vanilla rides the groove like a Gemballa Porsche” “Get Loose” -Vanilla Ice http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1533481200.jpg There you go. At least the Ice Gemballa has a serious RuF engine in it. If you look at it long enough, it may grow on you. They actually have appreciated though. |
The car doesn’t look terrible. Mostly cosmetic 80’s gaudiest needs addressing. Replace the red interior with black dash and black shin guards. Get black sport seats. Replace the gaudy red gauge face plates and trim.
Keep the red/old stuff with the car for provenance .... MattR |
This car had a tan interior, white gauges, red steering wheel, and “red accents” throughout when I got it:

88 twin turbo 930
^^^ I started typing and then got called to Breakfast. We have the same idea Matt. Scary!
I think the Pippen car is an easy fix. Have a professional dye the interior all black, send the gauges out to be restored, install factory or RUF front and rear bumpers and valance and you’re done. But 800hp in a convertible is a little scary. It needs to be turned down just a tad. I’m not 100% sure, but I thought the G50 930 Cabriolet cars were selling in the $150k range?? Let’s say you negotiate $95k. Spend $15k sorting what I listed. That leaves you ahead by a good margin. I’ll never own another convertible so don’t look for me to be that guy... I am an optimist. There is that 1% you mentioned. Besides, I don’t have to sell at all. It won’t lose any money sitting in my stable! Besides, like I said, I am not a purist! I just love the old air cooled engines, stroked or not. I am retiring at the end of this year, nothing better than blowing the doors off a bad a— Dodge! I already showed a 600 horse Camaro, he wan’t as bad as he sounded!! Oh what joy! I’ll keep the colors guys, after all there is some folks that like it!!

Well, that’s thats all folks....

Ice Gembella
The car I worked on was a very metallic blue with a a cranberry top.Stock 911SC MOTOR.I used to service a 77 930 from John Oates.Red and stock other than a Garretson Intercooler,3.2 heater boxes and a K-27 Turbo with an upgraded stereo.I never met him But a driver brought the car out from NYC for 8 years and 60,000 miles.I never saw the Turbo car from the Ice Man.Ciao Fred

Thanks Fred! Sounds like doozie! There’s one thing about theses special built cars, not many like them !! Thank God!!

Boyd seems to have a positive attitude towards it - so it may have found the right owner.
I'd drive the heck out of it as-is. It's at least a conversation piece - and you know that there is 1 of 1 in the entire world, which is nice. It's probably fun as heck. 800hp? That thing would be like driving a 917. |
Long live the "over-the-top" hot rod Porsche! I can't believe the number of guys that want to change the old 80's hotrod to a dull, mediocre stock look alike. Bright paint, interior, colored gauges, mods with lots of HP. All of this stuff makes these cars special.

Edit - Even the mileage looks right! 26k now, looks like it's been off the road a long time. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/1004349-1983-911-row-cab-gemballa-runs-needs-work-15k.html http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1533686829.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1533686829.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1533686829.JPG |
