You got that right, that’s about the only thing they forgot to add on it! How does a guy that tall get in it?? Apparently not very well, he just put 2500 miles on the car! I will say, I have never shifted a transmission as smooth!

Ice Gembella
The car on craigslist is the car I serviced. The lady who bought it had rear ended someone and damaged the Gembella nose in 2000.She offered it to me but I was closing shop and getting ready to move to Costa Rica.Fred

Here is a link showing Vanilla Ice driving a couple of his Gemballas, I can assure you that SC was never owned by Vanilla Ice. http://www.1000sel.com/index.php/gemballa/vanilla-ice-s-gemballa |
SC Gembella
I just bought the SC Cab Gembella.I used to service the car and last adjusted the valves and torqued the heads at 21,000 miles. The nose and fenders are off and it will get stock 930 fenders.Paint will be returned to the original black. The full Gembella interior is a little wild but with black exterior instead of metalflake blue it may grow on me.Classic C Recaros are very nice.Oh,it was a real Gembella but now it will be saved.Fred

JMS all the knee bar cassette bins and center stack were gemballa pieces too.
Fred, Did you first see the car for sale on this thread and then bought it? Your backstory has a few holes...why did Vanilla Ice take his Gemballa all the way up to your shop in Pennsylvania? He's been in Florida from what I know. Maybe the person who had you service it just said that Ice owned or once owned it. In any case, please post a picture of the interior...I find 80s excess very cool. |
I guess it's possible that at one point it was a Gemballa, but it was NEVER owned by Vanilla Ice. And that car has a long ways to go to restore it to its original Gemballa state, if it ever was such. That will be very hard, if not impossible, to source all of the proper parts for it. I hope you didn't pay too much for it Fred, I don't see that car ever getting its Gemballa groove back.

Asking on the car was $15k. I don’t think he paid too much. Interested to see what Fred does with it.

I looked at their other posts, but I didn’t see any images of the car more intact. Did you get any of the body parts with it that are off the car now? If you got it running that quick, it sounds like you did well. Congrats. I would’ve expected a bigger ordeal with a barn find like that. |
Sounds interesting Fred! Can’t wait to see pictures!! Talk about “Nostalgia” !!!
|
Fred you bringing it home this weekend, if so cant wait to see it.
