That appears to be some very wishful thinking. There’s nearly a dozen of these on eBay right now, all appear to be new flips, and none of them anywhere close to this price. They range from about 300-400k, with the lowest current offering at 309.9k or best offer.
There’s one up for auction at Mecum Monterey with a higher build sheet and a much lower estimate than this asking price. And I doubt that one will get bid up into its estimated range with all of the stale inventory out there that can be bought for less $$$. https://www.mecum.com/lots/CA0818-336741/2016-porsche-911-r/ What a windfall these were to the early delivered buyers that got out right away, as they’ve been leaking value ever since. Those holding out haven’t done so well, as Porsche continues to offer limited edition models that take some of the luster off the previous ultra limited halo model that everyone pined over. It’s a fickle market that’s for sure, as you can buy a trifecta of these now for about the same $$$ where the first flips were offered at, or to look at it another way...buy one and get two free. Lol. I wonder how many actually traded hands at the top, as that would really hurt to be a buyer at those grossly inflated levels, and watch it come crashing down on you. Watch this one also. I think $100k over MSRP is the market roughly. Maybe a little more or less depending on options/color/mileage.

Hilarious description on that one...
“Remaining in storage since new, this is a 911 R in truly time-warp condition, appearing as if it just left the factory in Stuttgart yesterday.” Duh, cause it was practically yesterday that it left the factory. Time-warp would be more appropriately used for an air cooled Porsche with delivery miles on it, not something two years old. I wonder where all of these flippers are into these cars for, cause if many paid 100k or more over MSRP, and that’s the current market, then they’ve watched all of their profit go up in smoke. |

2026 will be the bottom for them. Maybe I’ll be in the market then.
The 2007 GT3 seems to be bottoming and I’m liking that car in the $80k range. 10-14years is when all cars seem to bottom out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’m guessing you mean that tends to be the bottom for cars that become collectibles, because many of them don’t. They get used and decay until they’re pretty much worthless. And those that start out as hot collectibles, like the 911 R that started this thread, probably won’t follow that path. As rare as these are, and as close to MSRP as the market is getting on the 911 R, I think we’ll see it turn way before that timeline, at least for this model that is.

Bid today seems to be holding steadfast at $300k, nobody willing to pay more and sellers (at least publically) not capitulating. Id bet there's been more than a few that traded sub-$300k that aren't even whispered about to preserve sellers ego. I'm actually surprised one is scheduled to roll across the auction block. Given the bloodbath to current value each time an R sells at auction I thought it was an unspoken agreement amongst owners to avoid at all costs (last one I know of was Feb). $100 its a no sale at Mecum; any takers? |

I went to the Porsche Parade in Vermont a few years ago, just as these cars were being introduced. There was a small presentation given by the marketing and design guys, so we went. When Q&A time came, I asked: "why does Porsche design and build cars we (the normal Porsche customer) can't buy?"
Crickets. You shoulda seen the look on the marketing guys face.

Seems like a stretch. I wouldn’t pay extra for one even if he owned it. He drove a martini RWB in Miami back beginning of this year as I recall, and that car is stale as can be. It’s been on the market forever, probably at least a couple of years if not longer, and I’d bet longer.

MW is more of a hype-guy cheerleader type than tastemaker. His cars aren’t anything new, he’s just in the pop zeitgeist by having a brand.
Re. 911R values the BaT commentariat posited the new GT3 touring will supplant the R as next flavor of the month. |

This is why it’s smarter to flip the allocation for the car, than it is to buy the car and flip that at a later date. In this case, that’s the difference between making hundreds of thousands versus breaking even, or what’s even more likely losing in this scenario, with all of the other costs involved to close on the car. This could’ve been a fairly large loss as well if this owner paid over MSRP for it. |

GT3 Touring (with the 6-speed manual) has to be 90% of the 911R at a relative bargain price...certainly would be my choice, but alas, they are no longer available for order.

I think more than a few speculators got caught out on the R.
