Agree.....

Patience.
Are you dead yet?
Neither are your contemporaries.
Demand still exists, and will for many years.
But not forever. Tick tock.

Let's see..sport seats=$2-3K...recovered front seats, rear seats, front door cards, rear seats (top and bottom), leather covered dash, leather covered knee pads, leather covered door tops, leather covered garish tops, leather covered rear panel and new carpets...including labor...easy over $8k......you may need to look at the photos of that car again...the interior is new...not just the seats.

The harsh reality is that restoring, renewing or refreshing these cars is not cheap. What may look like bad buy to some may be a great buy to others who just wants to get in and drive.

1984 M491 tastefully modded 90k miles. Paid 66,500. That seemed right for this car, to me, a paint to sample fully serviced and good to go example. I can tell you that it was not easy to come up with a price to pay for the 491 car, the prices are all over the map.

Can’t stand the clear corners. It’s not a Skyline.

Thanks Macroni, I am super excited!

The gentleman who did the mods and the previous owner knew Porsches to say the least, and I was sucked into the car the first time I saw it, kept coming back to it after seeing a few M491's and Turbos for sale.

I am not so put off by them, I have swapped my 991.2 turn signals to clear, will have to get some miles on the car and see if I feel he same after a few months.

What color is your 991.2? Color makes a big difference and age of the car. Old cars can look goofy with certain mods. Clear lights is definitely one of them. It’s almost like original owner was trying too hard to customize his car. Rest of the car looks sharp from what I can see. Think how aesthetically pleasing red taillights on red paint will look.

That isn't what decides what a car is worth. It doesn't make sense because you could by a 50K mile SC for the same money. A run of the mill 200K mile SC isn't worth $50K, even in these strange times we live in. Happy that the buyer got what they wanted and the seller got a nice price, but to me, that sale seems nuts.

I also doubt that the paint and interior were anywhere close to a $30K job.

My 2017 is Graphite Blue Metallic. I believe it was a one year only color for the 911.
Again they don't bother me at all on this car. But I can appreciate the comments.

I always thought a $35k G50 was a lot, so I looked at equally priced 993's . This was in 2006. How time flies.

Good looking car Randy. I like the Duck too. It gives it the look of the 74RSR before they changed the tail.

I’d get a second set of wide 15” wheels with Michelins to put on there now and then to really bring out the RSR look.

Very true. Never do these cheap project cars get top of the line restoration work. And never does each dollar spent on that work go directly towards the value of the car, that’s just the owner rationalizing the project as the money is being spent.

Great Idea! Any suggestions on wheels and tires, I run Pilot Sport 4S on my 17 911.

They are amazing tire btw, but I am thinking you are meaning a more vintage looking tire correct?

Thanks

Derrick is probably recommending one of these in the TB lineup...

Bottom line, what decides the worth of a car is having a buyer who’s willing to pay the asking price. Lots of cars are not worth their asking price but somehow seem to get it. A stock run of the mill SC with 200k miles will probably be worth $18-23k...add all the stuff that was done to the car that sold and you may be over the sale price. A glass out half way decent paint job will be $8k or more...depending on your demographics. Plenty of internet sales support my claim....it’s not like I’m pulling this out of my arse. Many may shake their heads but that is the reality.
