For 1.3m you can get a period-correct formula 1 chassis from that time - not McLaren maybe but something like Osella or Dallara or Minardi - and a ton of spares, and mount the F1 engine on a real F1 car and do some real man's driving at the track, if you find a track that will let you run open wheel cars on a member track day.

A cool gimmick, but a gimmick. They do anything to the chassis, brakes, interior?
In my opinion, the only one in this realm that's not a "more dollars than sense" poser-mobile is the carbon-tubbed Ruf. I dig em all (Singer, TAG thing, etc) but if I'm dropping 7 figures on a car it better be really special. |

How does a dead fish relate to the most awesomest type of race car?

someone explain engine cooling to me?
I thought these things self-destructed at anything under 100mph on a car that was basically built as a giant intake. Too rational for this insane build? Probably, but it's sticky and I can't shake it. |

Buying a used F1 chassis with an F1 engine is just a matter of money, there's nothing to it given enough $$$. Now, transplanting the Porsche F1 drivetrain into a classic 930 chassis, that's insane and hence interesting ! Hope they succeed technically. Similarly, the bling and carbon fiber panels etc on the Singer ... meh, no big deal. Last edited by pmax; 10-11-2018 at 12:33 PM.. |

I would buy the fish for $1M before the car $1.3M
The fish properly prepared would probably sell for $1.7M. Marketplace side track in process... ![]()

I saw the car up close at Rennsport. Its cool in a proof of concept kind of way, but to me, it seemed they just dropped that motor in and didn't hook anything up. I didn't see gas lines, oil lines, or electrical harnesses connected, so I don't think it is in running condition at the moment. I don't know what it does that a built 930 motor cant. I bet the maintenance costs are through the roof, since almost nobody can work on an F! motor with any type of expertise.
So other than bragging rights, which I guess some are willing to write a check for, I don't see it...

Yeah, there's multiple runs patched together. So? That's not a twisty bit. You've offered zero evidence that the car can't handle. Talking to you is like having a conversation with Don Quixote.
