Just read the article in the link above. Sorry, but Optimum No-Rinse is a joke. ONR's recommended dilution ratio for a rinseless wash is 2 oz. per 2 gallons of water or 256 to 1. I have use it and tried hard to like it (after meguiars D114 was discontinued) but no-go. Forget their polymer technology. At that ratio, its basically water. Mix it stronger and you'll get streaks that require heavier wiping and buffing.

Fair. I've been using Feynlab rinseless wash. So far, so good. Also, I only use distilled or RO water.

For grit stuck on the paint, have you tried using a clay bar ?

Sure, I've been using clay bars for 5 years or more, but only after washing the car, and only when I follow up with polish and wax.

I'm not sure how you could get all the liquid off the car using only the weight of the cloth, and the manufacturer sure doesn't suggest that

but to each his own.
Happy Waterless Washing.

I’ve used ONR for over a decade and never had any of these problems.

PPI, if I ever sell will confirm stickers on underbody parts still on car and clean.

Car undercarriage looks like as delivered.

For a no-rain person your car will be impossible to resist.

Fair enough. I will comment the best products are the ones that work for you. :)

FWIW, many of us are pretty OCD and garage our cars. I have tested many detail products and have to fine vehicles other than mine that have real dirt to make a good analysis. Just about anything including water will work to clean a car well if the car paint is relatively clean and in good condition.

+1 on the Distilled or Deionized water.

If you live near the beach like I do, a nice rain-water rinse is probably a good thing. It removes the salty film.

I live in the northeast and I use ONR on all our cars almost exclusively. This is my wife's 2010 Subaru, never seen a day in the garage with original paint.

And of course, my 911.

I've used "The Bone" microfiber for cleaning and various sized plush microfiber towels from The Rag Company for drying with great results. I don't really measure the ONR in the bucket, just kind of wing it, and rarely have had streaking unless I'm lazy and leaving the car in direct sun or doing large segments at once without drying.

I really can't say enough great stuff about ONR personally.

Not sure if it’s been noted but not driving in the rain doesn’t equate to a rust free car unfortunately. Washing the car regularly will also cause rust if the car isn’t properly dried and I’ve seen some otherwise prestine low mileage older Porsches that have the typical rust around the window seals.

Never driven in the rain is probably a bit unrealistic as I'm sure the owner was caught out in the rain once or twice. But an owner purposely not taking the car out in the rain, ever, shows a love for the car that will also show up in the other aspects of the cars care. It was their baby.

Hate to disagree. It was dumb.

People who protect their cars for 40 years.

There's a difference in showing great care for your car and not driving it if there are clouds predicted. It's a discussion we've had over and over here and in the P-car world.

Then again, what do I know? To each their own...

You talk as if rust repair is just a weekend hack job with a can of plastic and some spray paint.

A few beers, an arc welder, and some primer. What could go wrong?
