One Family Owned ‘72T
I was just offered this 86k mike ‘72T that was purchased by
Grandfather of seller. Paperwork back to original purchase. In the past couple years car got chain tensioner update, new PMO carbs, SSI’s, and MSD ingnition system. Have all original MFI parts. I checked the engine numbers and are correct for car, but no COA. original Fuch’s. Car runs well, but a couple small oil leaks and needs valve adjustment and service. Always garage kept. One repaint in original red. Couple rust bubbles in right fender, and one on bottom of right door skin the size of your pinky Nail. Car could use a full resto, but very respectable driver for next decade easy! Looking for a good home and a fair price! Not a killing, but a price both buyer and seller could feel good about. What’s the market saying this month? Having a hard time loading pics....feel free to PM or email me if you want more pics. Last edited by kt911rs; 10-30-2018 at 06:54 AM.. |

Except in the case of exceptional cars the T longhood market is flat. On the plus side its a 72 with MFI, but lots of unoriginality, rust visibly present which means there is probably 40% more that you dont see. Repaint looks pretty bad with overspray on rubbers
Depending on how much history +/- 40k max. Id offer it on BAT and try to stringout the one owner aspect.

How's the dash? If it's been a northern car its whole life then perhaps the interior is more original than the paint?

The interior looks pretty good. I think I see the standard crack between the speaker and the defrost vent which is too bad that would have boosted it by 10K. The armrests look good although the seats have been replaced with an earlier model. You might get 50k out of it, subject to a thorough rust inspection.

10k. ALL DAY LONG. Most RS's don't even have their original uncracked dash. The last two I saw trade hands a couple of years ago went for 10K each. Guess what you get for a dash with a crack. About 500 bucks. Anybody who knows long hoods knows this. I'm surprised original T's aren't being bought up and dismantled to restore S and RS's. Maybe they are.

Four or five years ago you could pick the dashes up for 5K. That ship is long gone. Until a company or Porsche figures out how to make an indistinguishable Dash with the correct vinyl grain, these original uncracked dashes will continue to be gold.

Doesn't matter what car it's in, the dash alone is worth 10K +. If a daily driver shows up with an uncracked original Dash, remove the dash from the car. Post it here or on early S it'll be gone within a couple of days. Easy money. Except for the fact that daily drivers don't ever have original uncracked dashes, but a low original mile Northern car, just might.

Nice to see that this thread has turned into a dash know-it-all thread.
At least it hasn't turned into a "I am just trying to get the family and estate the most money so they can send all their grand kids to college and end up with the car for a reasonable price" morality thread. The very peculiar thing about the value of these cars in monetary means is that 1) Now that they are worth much more money people are torn but money always wins, and 2) When I go I would much rather have the car go to an enthusiast and hobby person but it won't matter because I will be dead and my children will probably need the money so once again money wins. Hopefully you get the car for a reasonable price and do not pull the dash out of it. |

Absolutes are absolutely silly. My cousin left his 57 Speedster to his kids. They didn't sell it. They are putting $50k into getting it back on it's feet so they can drive it. Money doesn't always win. Sometimes memories are more valuable.

He kept and drove the car for over ten years after
His grandfathers passing. It’s just time to move on he said. Since this turned into a dash discussion, I’ll just go with my original gut feeling And post it for sale in the $40’s. |

I would post it in the upper 40's assuming it passes the rust test. Rust free examples are tough to find. |

An original dash could be crack free now, but it's as brittle as a potato chip. Removing it, or just a bump, can spell doom!
