30 years in a New Hampshire basement and an owner who's had the car since Moby Dick was a minnow? The suspense is killing me here.

Car in a basement is not abnormal in New England. I had a 1970 911S in mine for a few years.

It was a very nice house. The oversized 2 car garage didn't have a back wall. It was open to the basement. He had the 911 half way into the basement side tucked on the left. There was a very wide oak staircase at what I would consider the end of the garage going upstairs.
I always thought it was a building code to have a firewall in your garage separating the living space.

Sounds like an old house. Building codes have changed quite a bit in the last 100 years.
