Look at the tail on the Blue 74, it has the tag light holes.

license plate lights on the bottom of the engine lid, two slotted holes, would only be functional on longhoods as the impact bumbers have the reflector in place of the license plate.

Some of the very early 74 ducks with the tag lights are filled in with metal plates that are crudly attched with screws.

These hand built cars are a reflection of reaching into the' parts bin" and whatever the hand grabed was installed.

Yeah definitely have seen those as previously mentioned but I wouldn’t consider that “filled in” as you can simply remove the screws and the plates. Have you seen a ‘74 that actually doesn’t have the lamp holes at all?

This is the second 74 carrera i have owned and both late build with no hole lids. I also have a friend who is original owner of his, later build and no holes. Wish these cars could talk to tell us their secrets. |

The only outlier I can think of - could CA equipment cars have been treated/ built differently? The COA on my current 74 states CA equipment (not US equipment as most COAs reflect) also has CA emissions decal on drivers rear window. My friends car is also original CA car. |
