3.3 engine case cost

Good Morning,

I'm looking to purchase a 1978 3.3 Porsche engine case # 678XXXX. Whats a fair price? Your feedback is very important.

Regards

If you’re looking for one specific case number to make it numbers matching to your car, then the current market for engine cases really has no bearing on it, especially if the seller knows that. Just my two cents.

I got the feeling he already did and is trying to figure out how much to offer.

3.3 turbo case in good condition? 4-5K I'd say. To complete your numbers matching 78 turbo? Sky's the limit!

Thanks guy.
As posting stated" I'm looking to purchase the 3.3 casting. I just don't want to get ripe off. I'm sure no one here wants to overpay for anything.

I did not think 4-5K would get it done..... I was thinking more like 9-10K

Is the 3.3. case something different? I thought all the 3.2/3.3 cases were the same.....unless a particular s/n was at issue...

Well, I suppose that is what I would pay. But having said that I was tired of paying stupid money for turd abused cases, so I made my own.

Case as in just the two case halves? Or a core short block with serviceable crank, oil pump etc?

Yup, as a matter of fact 2 Porsche race shops I have used used cases other than one from a turbo. I know in one of mine a carrera case was used ( cost under 2 grand ) and was, still is a good one and was race modified in the usual way. A race car Motor so case ### not an issue and is around 500HP. The shop said the casting strength was the same as a turbo casting. What year or model it came from I do not know but some research should get an answer if ### not an issue.

And then of course there are the factory blank cases. These are new replacement cases that were available over the counter from Porsche. They were sold unstamped.
