Barn find on Pelican
Another turd barn find floats to the surface. Another Porsche that was shown no love or respect from its owner, is now richly rewarding him, or his heirs. To this day still drives me crazy. Porsport has it. I emailed them twice with a couple of questions about a car they had, they never responded. Rather Porsports!!

This will make you feel better. MSRP for a 1952 was $4k What did the owner pay in the early 1970s? $10k? I have no clue. $10k invested int0 the S&P in 1970 would be worth $750,000 today. Just $4k invested int0 the S&P in 1970 would be worth $300,000 today. So, he's actually getting a fraction of that. Holding the car for 40 years was a colossal mistake, from a financial standpoint. Feel better?

I just don’t get the point of the thread.
There’s a b coupe in a barn down the road from me I would not pay a cent over $35k for it. If porsport is digging out cars and thinks he can get $90k for it, more power to him. Most of his cars here sit for a month or more through multiple markdowns. He starts high and then sells at 75-80% of his original ask.

Exactly!!!
Only point I was making is that these wonderful cars go neglected for decades and someone in the chain of ownership gets handsomely rewarded. It’s like watching CCC, Wayne says, “What a wonderful car, you’ve taken such care of it”. Really, why then is Wayne dragging all the boxes and snow shovels off of it. Not to mention the 10 boxes of parts that were removed from it. |

Personally, I never complain when cars are not kept well, I'm just grateful people kept them at all. It makes up for all the times guys come up to me and say, "I had one of those, it was pretty rusty so I scrapped it, still have the emblem!"
