Why isn't there a thread on the Magnus car?
There is now.
![]() I know some of you are just as intrigued as I am about a YouTube celebrity adding crazy value to a car. I am so happy it's a no reserve auction. So what's your guess on final sale price? https://www.pcarmarket.com/auction/magnus-walker-str002/

Auction result at Pebble in 2013
https://www.goodingco.com/vehicle/1972-porsche-911-str-ii/ Also was for sale at this Aston dealer for awhile. Think they were asking $375k https://www.astonmartin-lotus.com/porsche/1972/1972-porsche-911-str-002-by-magnus-walker I think it's a mid $200k car max but it will probably sell closer to $300k since a bunch of people eat up the whole urban outlaw / rocker brand Magnus created... https://youtu.be/uqHyfu8Rf-c?t=383 |

P-car market seems shady as hell so I’m going to say it’s bid up over $300k thanks to some shill bidding.

I don't think the market for this car is as strong as it once was. I'm putting it down around $250k.

I'm sorry, but I don't see $300,000 worth of special in this car. Nothing superior to many of the builds here, performance--wise. Aesthetically, it's a hodgepodge and not especially attractive. Mocker's right, '"So very urbany. So extremely outlawy." -- I'd add so very Disney!
The comments are interesting. If anyone wants to part with or build a 3.2 liter motor for this guy, he'll give you $100,000 just for the engine: "For me, the 3.2SS MFI powerplant is the centerpiece of the car and is droolworthy all on it's own....... and probably a six figure endeavor unto itself." Is it me or are ridiculous questions being fed to this guy and then answered equally as ridiculously?
"I guess a few things should be mentioned. This car part: This is a real longhood and not backdate. It’s not singer or Gunther like detaileded (at $700k - $2Million) but this car is very nicely built and to many an even more desirable take on the Outlaw. Magnus seems to be at the the beginning of his rise to fame and is very well respected and liked by an even larger crowd than the Porsche community. He has already achieving mainstream celebrity. He has Match Box cars, Movies, documentaries and seems to be building international momentum. Yes, the car can easily be put away and shown to some big collectors friends or Porsche Museum. What a shame that would be. What would a car like this sell for without everything attached to it? I was at rennsport 6 and saw many and spoke to a few hotrod outlaws owners and builders. $300k seem to be the middle ground for decently built cars. Some over $300k and a lot higher. I met a few owners of gbody backdated cars with a standard 3.2L (well built) that had big money into them. This car is worth what someone is willing to pay. Who’s buying? A driver, and art collector, a Porsche Collector, investor. This is a living cultural icons car. To some it’s a car to others it’s much more, not unlike many special collectible things of all kinds. . So, If I had to guess a number, I would say....sorry gotta get ready for work. Good Luck to all and Congrats to whoever wins this beauty." How many hot rod builds have you seen sell for over $300 grand? No "art collector" is buying this car and its not as significant as the Janice Joplin 356. Give me a break. Beginning of his rise to fame? I would argue that he's already past his peak. $300k is middle ground? Where on Mars?

I know that not everyone who owns these cars has technical knowledge or skills, but it's still amusing to me to read the posts about, "consulted my mechanic about JB Weld used on the engine case".

Saying he is "beginning his rise" and "gaining momentum" is hilarious. Well past peak fame, but I think bidders will have extreme confidence in the build quality of this car due to his name and its history/documentation. Confidence spurs bids and $$$, which is why I think its going to go for all the money plus some.

You sell the sizzle and not the steak, as Kramer would say. Magnus has sizzle, big time. And I bet this car is a lot of fun to drive.
Look at the G body ST's being built out here and selling for $200K. Magnus has nothing to do with them, and while well done, they're not special, per se. There are plenty of guys with plenty of money who want a car to brag about, that's built up already and that draws a crowd at Sunday C&C's. This one fits that bill. $300K? Maybe, but not from me. I could get it done much cheaper, but my name isn't Magnus.

The matchbox thing had me until I saw the rock chip so I'm out.
Edit: I changed my mind, I'm in again and my plan is to forward date it into a boxster. Take that, living cultural icon. Last edited by ab1752; 03-19-2019 at 01:04 PM.. |

And with a press member on board, almost taking out a Mercedes. I have always found his cars interesting and don't get a lot of the hate. But he drives like an a$$ on public roads.

I had a funny conversation with a guy last year. He was telling me he had a "Magnus car," and sent me a pic. I sent him back a pic of the car before I sold it to Magnus, whose contribution was to lower it and put different wheels on it. He got very quiet.
