Indeed! Bragging is fun sometimes though, yet all in good fun... not to discriminate against the 915 or any folks who are happy as Larry with them.

Mine was named R 50/50 by Ruf. 6 speed that is in an 89 WPO ROW RUF BTR III -- same box/ratios in the CTR (yellow bird for reference). Since I sold the car last month, well no more bragging rights anymore. We'll just leave it like that...

That’s about twice what a 915 is safe for running. That’s well into G50 required… and gorgeous.

Sending a couple analog pix of the Ruf motor back 24 years ago. That car was a VIN 3.2 carerra until Ruf got ahold of it. It would have had a G-50 5 speed before the event. The commando sweater I'm wearing is worn out by now. I used to wear it a lot after I finished my tenure as a US Navy Seal. ![]() ![]() ![]()

911 heaven, quote "That is quite the beast of a motor voitureltd! You'll need a beefy G-50 turbo trans for that for sure. Wondering what car it goes into, what is the base of the motor.
It was and is the original (a since modified motor by Norwood autoKraft ( Bob Norwood ) and trans that was completed in 2002-3 for Anthony Macaluso for this near mint original otherwise, now 38K mile 85 930 . I bought it from Lamborghini Dallas about 10 years ago. I kept the boost down most of the time to 1 bar for around 575 engine hp but it did 763 on engine dyno @ Norwoods in 2003 according to his extensive and enthusiastic Pelican thread ( Amac ) in that time. I was /am happy about getting it albeit needing and now getting some intense motor rebuild & upgrades TLC. The 930 4speed was just fine with the power and torque it generated for my grandpa type of street use. Here are photos of it now waiting for the motor completion. I do like 5spd G50's but too much to change it out now. I have other 700+ HP G50 street 930s but can't justify the expense for the gain of a G50 vs the original numbers matching 4spd for this one............yet.

A 930 gearbox shares genetics with a 956. If they are geared properly to a car and application, there’s really no need for more than 4 gears.

Did not know so thanks for that info. So, I'll keep it 4spd, also as it has numbers matching motor and trans. If I were ever to DE it (which I wouldn't) I suppose the G50 might get it around Road America a few seconds quicker. With the power and torque it has it would not be necessary for how and where I drive.

Just yesterday I was talking to a client about whether he stays 5spd or converts to 6spd. I made the point about how more isn’t always better. Every time you shift, there’s .2-.25 seconds where you aren’t on power. So let’s say the extra gear has you shifting 6 more times per lap (3 up and 3 down). That’s a second and a half, or so per lap. More gears allow greater driveability in a race situation with traffic and such, but as a general rule on a fastest single lap qualifying type situation, it’s rarely faster unless it’s been optimized for a specific track.

Sorry for the late reply... Beauty of a car! Had the same wing for my Ruf, though not a purist then at least. Looking forward to seeing the end result in time vicariously. God speed...
