Nice. I did zero research obviously. I just saw it posted. Did mention it to the wife and got the all clear though.

With the damage, if it is straight, I’d consider buying it at $100k and then be able to track it without worrying too much.

Would you pay more for a .1 / .2 RS with low miles and then be scared to add miles, or a little less for one with miles and be more open to driving it?

I’m weird. I work to make money and buy cars to drive them.
For me it’s about the deal. 18k is low miles to me. It’s when there are two cars for the same price that the lower priced car wins if all else is equal.
The mileage on the wrecked car is irrelevant with regards to value now.
A 18k mile car wins that comparison.
The wrecked car needs a 20% or more discount to be attractive.

But this is my personal opinion on buying a car. YMMV.

Derrick, surprisingly in the GT RS world, the number of cars actually driven is way lower than the number of cars with low miles. Based on my arm chair quarterbacking I'd say low miles is less than 5000. Which is really a shame since like most Porsche's, the 997 generation like to be driven.

I would think 20% would be less of a reduction than what I would be looking for if there was damage. Unless of course you are going to drive the wheels off and not care about resale and dealing with all the paint meters etc. Not that I have a problem with the paint meters and all that, these are not inexpensive cars.

There was a lot of discussion about that car and the seller did eventually include the back photo of the decal that showed the 1984 year km to mph swap. In the 1980s, I don’t understand why the grey market conversion folks wouldn’t have just put in a 180mph speedo vs. installing a new face…isn’t that much easier? Did they roll back the km to miles? Why the hassle?

I also don’t understand why a 3K mile car has the gas tank repainted. Also, a lot of discussion about the undercarriage condition for such a low mile car. BAT cheer leaders continue to be obsessed with low mileage cars without a lot of evidence to back it up. The last two low mileage 1987 911 Turbos did not include service records or speedo photo dates and they sold for a huge premium.

It is a grey market car with a lot of unanswered questions. No discussion from the seller and odd there is no explanation how an 83 turbo came into the US in 84 as a new car which was next to impossible to do unless it was brought in by someone in the military which is clearly not the case. Top side looks the part the bottom not at all. No way that car has only 3,600 miles.

Yes, 356C's are down 20-25% from a couple of years ago. Decent drivers are $40,000-60,000, nice cars are $75,000-100,000. Seeing few crack $100,000 these days unless it's a very nice SC.

Thanks, Adam. This spring I plan to be a serious buyer. My price point is right between the top price you mentioned on a solid driver and the low end of a really good car. It took me two years to find the right 911. Hoping it doesn’t take that long for the right C.

I think the peaking order today in the 356 world is pre-A's are on top then, A's , C's and B's still at the bottom.
B's have the newer Bodies and older mechanics, bad combination.
People by the earlier cars for the styling and the later cars for the better mechanics.
