Boxster or 944 Cabriolet
I really like the way the 944 drives. Boxster feels sportier.
The 944S2 is a quick car. Not sure if it’s slower than a Boxster. And it does have 2 back seats. Top is a bit more work on the 944. Plus that toneau cover is very dated. I have both cars. But cannot say I like one over the other. For the same money... what would you buy?

944 cab never did it for me. Now if we were talking 968 cab I’d pick that. But a 987 Boxster is such a good value. I’d own a Boxster again. Once (924S actually) was enough 944 for me.

I’ve never driven a 944 S2 cab. But I really like the design and they are so rare that it is cool to see them on the wild.
Since I like to take my kids out in my Porsche, back seats are required. 944 is my pick.

Boxster S all the way
No comparison The only people that say 944 have never driven a Boxster. I’ve owned both over the years and it wouldn’t even be a competition. Both are great cars but I found the boxster way more fun to drive. Good luck with whatever you decide Tony |

ive had three 944s and one Boxster. I loved them all.
when it comes to top down, I'd go Boxster every time. the car just looks great with the top down IMHO. and I like the way it drives.

You’re wrong. I’ve driven a Boxster. I still choose the 944 cab.

All the air cooled 911's and 944's that I have owned and raced I find the engine and transmission on the Boxter a real piece of disposable crap. We are going to have to change the class rules soon as we are running out of throw away engines and gearboxes for the early cars. We will have to start in on the next generation Boxter junk yard crap, run thru that supply then move on
The boxter suspension is great The boxter is a chick car . Just have a look at the over done mess they call the wiring harness compared to the simple old school air cooled similar harness on the 944. Last edited by dsfnctn; 11-24-2019 at 06:42 AM.. |

Matt I just went out in my garage and had another look at my Boxster race car sitting next to my
944 race car under the bench i see two broken gearboxes and an old heavily scored case which are both not from the 944. I think I can see the old label off an old coors can in the recycled aluminum Porsche used casting the case Last edited by dsfnctn; 11-24-2019 at 09:57 AM.. |

I would take a 09 or later Boxster over the 944. Mid engine handling. Very fun and lots of power. 944 feels like an antique compared.

Did all year 944 cabs have a back seat? I thought only '89s did.
Driven both. Different cars imho. If you need a rear seat, you know which you need ![]() One thing I liked about the 944 vs the boxster, was the ease of rotation during autocross. Boxster was either planted or understeered. 944 did it all - under, neutral or oversteer with great ease.

Owned and drove both back to back.
I really like the 944 but it's overwhelmingly evident the boxster benefits from several decades of improvements and refinements. It's far less maintenance. Drives and performs better. A phenomenal value for what you get. A well sorted 944, still very special, oozes that old world solid german build quality, the S2 Cabs actually have usable power over the original base 944 NA's, are a very distinct sight on the roads, my 944 gets tons of attention and compliments now versus 5-10 years ago. They're starting to feel vintage but still very easy to live with day-to-day. |

No question I would take any generation and any trim level of boxster over a 944 cab.
