What do you guys think about this blown and repainted 930

she so butchered would make a fun hotrod project to complete

but,.....50K is dreaming right now in pieces in this market.

I just missed a 81 3.3 like this for 18K few weeks ago

Sounds more like an expensive nightmare than a fun project to me. You’d probably be way upside down on value by the time this gets completed at the current asking price. Buy a well sorted road ready Turbo instead of this thing, that’s just my two cents.

A roller 930 I would think would be about 25K , the few engine bits might add another 5k.
If you want it that is my guess, but you still would be money ahead to buy one running.
And it would be cheaper to buy a running modified one like this was instead of stock and then modifying it like so many do.

@20K still seem high .. 15K for this project is fair offer?

Ummm No! Those wheels cost $6k.
The suspension is done. There is $10k you don’t need to spend. The headers, Turbo and intercooler would run $8-10k with all the parts to install. You are not getting that car for $15k. There is nothing wrong with the paint. If you don’t like the color that is your issue. It doesn’t lower the value to everyone.
It’s a well sorted Turbo that needs a engine rebuild. Running in this market it’s an $80k-90k car. So discount the engine rebuild and some money for that hassle.
$50k is close to a fair price.
But $15k gets you nothing that says Porsche on it.

It’s not a 15k car nor is it a 50k car, it falls somewhere in the middle. It’ll take a lot of time and money to make this car run again due to that blown up motor. Anyone considering buying this should ask themselves why the current owner isn’t rebuilding it and then selling it. The answer is that this car is a money pit, and will probably never be worth the money spent on it. The current owner is just hoping to cut his losses and find someone else willing to “finance” a long term project, as opposed to buying a running car, as that’s just what many people do that don’t have the funds to buy a car already well sorted and road worthy. It’s a fools errand. It will drain your time and money, I can’t imagine anything fun about that. Find another Porsche that’s boosted - not busted.

If I sold my Carrera I'd be interested in it for half the asking price, wouldn't want the wheels, I'd use the 3 piece Fuchs Bob Woodman is building me, just have him make them wider.

I am with JMS935 its not a $15k car but its not a $50k car either. Sure some of the parts are very expensive if you buy them new, except you're not buying them new with this car. You're also not going to be converting it back to stock so its never going to be a top of the market 930. On the other hand, for the guy that wants a hot rod turbo this is a good opportunity to get a big head start. If you have a 3.3 turbo motor sitting around you can use that and some of the goodies still with the car to make a mild hot rod with some nice other parts too. Even with the motor rebuilt I don't see it being an $80 to $90k car in this market. The 930 market has been hammered in the last year, the fall in the stock market is also making all of the markets for these cars less liquid, especially project cars. I think its more realistic as a $70k car tops with the motor rebuilt. Maybe you pay in the low $30's for this car. If you have to pay someone to rebuild the motor budget at least $20k maybe more since we don't really know what's salvageable from the old motor. Then add in all the "while I'm in there" costs, you'll be in the $60's pretty quickly.

I still dont think i would slam down 20K cash on the table and winch it on trailer feel too good about it ..
@15K i would be excited to repaint it and start the engine rebuild..

Paul is selling it because he can not take the absurd financial hit to have the engine overhauled with three youts nearing college age (a boy and two girlz).

This could be me as I am retired and have most of the necessary parts to repair it from another modded 930. Unfortunately what I do not have are the skills, time or tools to do it. Who ever does, it could be a good thing, as lots of good stuff, well thought out build to get a good outcome. Don't like red?, well then maybe it's not for everyone. I have a red one or two modded 930 which was not my first color choice, however after enjoying the performance, still are not on my want to sell list. Price value to someone?, depends on many things.

That's still going to be better than giving it away. A good core motor will come up and he'll be able to get it back on the road in time. A modified 930 just drives so much nicer than a stock one, I wouldn't bother putting it back to stock and would just enjoy it for what it is.

I honestly thought it was a fairly priced car at $51,800 given the current market.

Then I read about the “CONS”. Man.

Good luck to the seller, sounds like it was a blast to drive and a well set up car.
I see running Turbos in the $65k. There was one in WA, black, for sale for even less and stayed for sale for a looooong time. Take that value minus the rebuild cost, that’s the price of this car.
