I’m doing a thing...
You guys know I don’t come here to promote my business. This is my car guy community and I come here to hang out, even if I don’t get along with all of you. So while this is tied to my business, what I’m really doing here is ask my car community for support. And all you have to do is make a donation to a charity in your own local community. Read the details and let me know if you have any questions. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1591132650.jpg

Donated to Chattanooga Community Kitchen and Second Harvest Food Bank of Mid. TN. (Not $500 so I don't qualify for the credit, but what matters is getting help to folks who need it.) Thanks for putting this out there!

Hard eye roll.

Donated to Dorthys kitchen, Salinas CA
Thanks for the motivation to share our blessings with those less fortunate... good luck in your event. |

Nice gesture. I sold out first batch almost immediately and will be ordering more. All proceeds have been donated to a local nursing home that has been decimated by the incompetence of Comrade Cuomo

Nice effort, BTW. |
Thank you to all of you for both moral support and those who have already been making donations in their own backyards. This is what motivated me and where my own personal donation was made. Time to go log some miles...http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1591180118.jpg

Here’s the selfish part of it. I played hooky today to celebrate running day.

Nice....

It's hard to believe there are areas with snow on the ground, given the burnass going on here now - incredible!
|
The snow was near constant once I got 10,000’. That’s about the height of the first lake. Then It was snowfields up to the second and third ones. I didn’t go further but there are two small glaciers past that another 1/2 mi or so. That watch photo was my high point but not quite halfway. The whole out and back was 9.5 mi.

What a gorgeous place to live!
|
Even after 20 years i still can’t believe if I drive an hour I can experience something like this. There was a lot of gratitude as I was out there yesterday. It was 1 year to the day from when they discovered the mass on my thyroid. A year ago I thought I might be dying.
|
Good for you, man! We donate regularly to local food banks and homeless shelters. I am grateful to have a good job and have means so it's no skin off my back. It would be nice if more people had compassion and empathy for the less fortunate and didn't think of it as "makers vs. takers" or "freeloaders". Many folks who go to food banks for help have more than one job but still struggle and no one deserves to starve in this country. Sorry if I screwed up your thread...
Great pics, btw. |

I can't wait until my crops start coming in. They accept fresh food donations and I'm going to be taking them boxes of tomatoes, squash, heads of lettuce, beets, etc. I get enough eggs that I can also give them 1-2 dozen eggs a week. After living in Berkeley and Oakland for nearly 20 years, I saw the food desert first hand. You had to drive to a grocery store unless you lived in a nice neighborhood. And many poor people don't have cars. I was involved in community gardens back there and now that I have my own land, I want to help. I calculated it once, and I save $1000-2000 a year on my own personal groceries with what I grow. Now that I can easily grow way more than I could ever eat without much extra effort at all, I'm going to do my part to help. It's the human thing to do. |
Giving back is admirable.
Your cause is crap. I can’t think of one case that can conclusively be called call “racism”. Police reform is fine and probably warranted. I’m not impressed by the virtue signalers who put our updates or drive their sports cars for a bulls*it cause. |

At least it gives me something to bisch about! :D I've been contemplating shifting my work schedule to overnights, but the trouble there is the already high humidity goes nuts after dark (air feels downright gross), the heat doesn't come down much (often still in the 90s at midnight and later), and the bugs go apeshiit since they are attracted to the hanger lights. The positive is that you don't have acetylene torch sun to deal with. At least my Mighty Meatlocker Turbo's a/c system continues to hang icicles on all yer parts, despite the extreme heat, and the big ballz engine laughs at the added weight of the components and the 5-7 hp loss when the compressor clutch is engaged (all the time, here)! |
Hey man- this is a really nice gesture, and I appreciate you doing it.

Ironically, you are the real racist.
Despite what I presume are good intentions, you are perpetuating corrosive nonsense. Black people don’t need to be coddled by your liberal bleeding heart. You do them a disservice by force feeding the victim narrative. |

Nick, I’ve been telling you that you can’t fix stupid.
Bob Mould just dropped a new track. It says anything I have to say on the matter... https://m.youtube.com/watch?fbclid=IwAR02N61rnGLItEvvJvm2XaZZIvYhYbvVScT iUa5Q88R9mLNmpqKFWE5O1y8&v=zD7TxGTPsV4 |

Guys, please don’t make this a political thread. Contrary to what the White House and Fox would have you believe this is not a political movement. It’s a civil rights revolution. People like Chris are finding themselves a threatened species and it scares them. They won’t go quietly.
|
How do you have a revolution for an imaginary problem?
Stop treating black people like children, they don’t need your faux sympathy. |

......Typical hyperbole and no facts.
If you tell people that they are getting screwed long enough, they will believe you. You can find legitimately troubbling anicdotes to support any argument but the statistics don’t indicate a (racial) problem. It’s weird, almost as if the media and a major political party have an interest in sowing discord. |

I just don’t get what you think you are going to accomplish here. You aren’t going to change anyone’s mind. I’m surely not going to try to change yours. So why are you carrying on? |
I'm betting this guy doesn't have a lot of black friends. I wonder if he's even American?

And to be honest about it I’m ok with that. I grew up color blind. But we’ve reached a point where me not being a racist isn’t enough. Me, and other white people of privilege, need to see how the life experience of POC is different. Eddie Glaude is a Harvard professor. He is a man of privilege. He said this following Floyd’s services and it struck a cord. I will never know that fear. And because of that I will also never know the courage either. I cannot sympathize because I can’t experience it. But I can care and say,”I see you and I too want better for you.” http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1591401484.jpg |
Lol, the ACLU just backed away from its commitment to the defense of free speech.
Unfortunately for you guys, facts don’t care about feelings. I’ll drop some actually statistics on you in a second. .......If black people are so horribly mistreated here in the US, why is there such overwhelming demand for Africans to immigrate here? |
