My one family owned 944 has been on jack stands in my basement garage for 3 years now. I’ll never sell it.

‘79 Scout II, 345 4 speed, it will run after the zombie apocalypse.

I understand the Jetta as well, my first new car was an ‘86 GTI, lots of fun, and one of my kids likes his MK3 Jetta (220k miles and it still runs great).

I have a One owner 1991 Miata with 38k miles....Does not make sense to sell it As we only paid 5k. (2500 each) My brother and I each own half.

Humorously rather than Sell off cars my brother and I have been creative and started buying half of a car.
I own
Half a Miata
Half a m roadster
Half a 1981 SC

We also each have 3 cars of our own. So we don’t fight over them. Find someone who likes cars as much as you to purchase half.

This is a great idea. I will have to consider. My brother also loves cars and has a few collectibles. Very interesting....

911

I would agree with the car being worth low 30s . However higher milage and the need for engine and trans build are going to be a factor to consider for the new buyer .

Why is it on Jack stands?

Started a suspension, brake, wheel bearing project and never completed. I need about 15 more hours to complete. Hopefully I’ll do it this year. I miss driving it but life gets in the way.

15 hours and it's been stalled for 3 years? If you didn't fix it during COVID, you're probably never going to fix it. Sounds like your totally checked out. Pretty common as people get older and lose interest in projects.

So, just test drove a super clean, OUTSTANDING grade 2010 911 Carrera S with PDK. I was very impressed but.....it has 91k miles. Thoughts from the gallery? I haven't really considered anything with that many miles but it is SOOOOO clean.

Non-issue.

I mean that on a modern Porsche, 91K isn’t high miles. Do the maintenance, including the major service that was due at 90k mi and keep driving it. If it’s an immaculate car with good care, it should be a non-issue.

It’s the mileage not the miles.

Thanks for the confidence builder. Ok, so I checked Mitchell and I don't see any major service around 90k - only oil changes every 6k at 84k, 90k, 96k and spark plugs to be changed every 24k miles or 4 years (sounds expensive - think this is DIY?). Am I missing something?

You don't want to plunk down the cash until you know what the overall condition is.

Pay for a PPI with compression test/leak-down, if you can't do it yourself.

Yup.

You don't want to be this guy at 76K miles.

https://rennlist.com/forums/997-forum/1120276-997-2-3-8-engine-failure.html

Same applies to the SC you're selling.

You should know the drill, as a long term p-car owner.

Sorry, my brain defaulted to Subaru 30-60-90. 996 is 24-48-72-96. Plugs, wires, fluids, including gearbox. Looks the whole car over, compression test and fix any leaks etc.

When was the clutch done? AOS?

It’s a PDK. Full service records available showing gear oil changed per Maint schedule.

That's all that really matters. If they've follows the book and they can show it, get the PPI and decide from there.

Hmm. guy with 175K+ mile 911 SC is worried about a new 911 with 1/2 the miles?

91K miles isn't that bad.. its a 10 year old car that was seemingly actually driven. Like Matt says, I don't think that should be too concerning. I presume it was priced accordingly? Have a PPI done if going forward.
