I have 4 Porsches. I am ready to sell, looking for advice on value, and senarios....
I posted this in the cars for sale and was not able to post photos from messages there, so this is the first car I am wanting to sell. I don't know what to be asking for this car as it is very unique. This was built by the previous owners of Sport Haus specifically for Reno Fernley raceway.
1971 914-6 2.4 911 motor, 993 brakes and drilled rotors, brake cooling vents, 2 external oil coolers, 911RS exhaust, Duel Webers, 901 side shift with block out plate, and race ratios (don't know what they are). Koni sport Adjustable on all 4 corners, full cage, MSD ignition, keyless ignition, Custom upholstery and seats, completely lightened (weighs 1200 lbs, corner weighted). 3 piece centerline wheels 315 40 18 rear, 205 50 15 in the front, Prototipo Steering wheel I appreciate your feedback ![]() ![]() ![]()

Hello Lisa,
It’s been a while. We’d be happy to help you. First off what is the vin? And engine number? Whether it’s a 6 conversion or a factory six effects value.

The Vin is 4712907848, Not an original 914-6, The engine number I believe is on top of the motor under the tin correct? I don't want to pull carbs off and remove tin to get at it. Car runs terrific Pulling carbs and messing with it makes me nervous.

Also, I have the side skirts that go along the rockers, they attach with Zoos (?) Zoose fasteners..... One cannot stand on them, and are not structural so they are on a top shelf in my Garage. Getting in the car We just hop over the doors, the skirts get in the way. I mainly Autocrossed after crashing another car at the track. This is not an autocross car! I tried. I have video of this car 1-2 months ago, running up the street and back etc. This sits an inch off the ground, a racetrack car for sure.

Engine number is stamped into the alternator/fan stand. On the driver side up near the firewall.

Hi, Thanks for helping with this. The Fan housing number isn't the engine number. I googled it and it's than fan number. The fan number is 9011061015R. Another number near there is *6129151*. I think the number we are looking for will require me to remove the top shroud... unless anyone has another numberlocation??
Thanks soo much.

6129151 is a 1972 2.4 911T engine.
I would put your car between $20-25k. I bought mine a year ago in that same range.

15k for faster sale. Vintage 914 track cars are a tougher sell. Saw a similarly outfitted 914 track car go for 15k last month. 20-25k is my estimate for a longer sale.

I paid $15,000 for my 914/6 track car. My car had a 3.3 motor and a Hewland gearbox.
Another one spent the last year on Pelican and I think finally sold for about $17,000. A very limited market. ---Adam ![]()

I was unable to verify it, even though it has all the right bits to be one. Henry has no record of the build.
I will also remind everyone posting that I always give advice on an asking price. It’s a starting point. You never know who is going to fall for a certain car. Adam, I don’t consider yours a comp. how many years ago was that? You of all people know that even my deal of a year ago is old. Yours is ancient and arguably not relevant.

I've also seen several "ask" in the $30,000 range for similar cars in the last couple of years, no takers. I think it's probably hard if you're a guy who wants to hit the track on the weekends to buy an old 914 when you can just as easily get a Boxster or a Cayman for probably the same money. So yes, in normal circumstances a 5 year old deal is not relevant, but given the tiny market these cars are in, and the fact that 5 years later they are worth about the same amount, it's a comp. ---Adam

Your car is a real 6 and today would likely bring twice what you paid for it.

All these years I thought it was a real six. I thought that was the basis of people finding your 904 conversion so offensive. My bad.

So should I part this car out?
All told, Old 914 monsters can't win anymore, vintage racing is all there is?, Further constricting the sales market for these cars.
So, I saw a 911T motor listed on ebay for 21k. Should I part out this car? I really appreciate a place where we can discuss this stuff. I have been in the PCA for years. I have multiple friends that have cars like mine, and who have multiple 911's in their garages that they don't want to sell, who bought 914's and put big motors in them so they could race but not possibly damage their more valuable 911's. In posting this thread, I have so many requests and interests in my 911's. I wish the racing enthusiasts were more like me, I'm older, I like to actually drive the car and feel the surface, and the response of the mechanical vehicle. The cars are old too. No power steering, stability control...... Yes a GT3 will win all day, it shifts for you, etc... My mother could drive them and win. However, there is nothing more raw than driving a 2000lb car with carbs, without computerized assist. My mouth watered when I first saw this car. People stared at it as it was towed on the freeway in an open trailer. It was so fulfilling to arrive at the track and share various opinions on tires, and suspension set-ups for these superlight mid engine cars that have to have gumballs in order to drive. What fun. Now, sell the motor to those restoring old 911's. Is that what I should do?
