THINK FAST when necessary...
This should probably be on the Tech forum, and I thought I'd jump start the sugarwood jump start thread, but my intuition told me no. Bad idea I thought from various perspectives. Leave sleeping dogs lie. Therefore I'll share the story here, and some tech forum guys are here anyway. It is reminiscent of the jump start thread however.
Thursday morning here I'm making coffee ready to head to the mountains for a couple days. Wife say, your (16 year old) daughter is in sever menstrual pain and you have to drive her to the school drop off near by. She can't walk the 30 minutes to school! You gotta leave in 10 minutes! I went out to warm up the car, but it wouldn't start since someone left the dome light on all night (not me). No jumper cables because I left them in the mountains jump starting the 69E three weeks ago (successfully sugarwood), no one around and I'm thinking I'm f-ucked! What are you going to do? I need 12 volts... and more. I didn't mention it was a test day, last of four test days, very important because they shut the school gates on the minute and I had only 10 to get the car started. Then it occurred to me, my scooter is 12 volt! I get the battery out within a minute with an impact drill, run across the street to the open bonnet. The scooter battery is only half as long as the car battery though. I lay it upside down on top POS to POS post, lay a spanner down diagonally from the NEG post and sat the small battery NEG post on the spanner. Finally I run around and turned the key... VARROOOM! No associates this time around. The big let down was when I walk back into the house with minutes to spare, wife say she's not going, but now she has to go to the doctor today to verify why she didn't make the test, as a formal excuse disclaimer. So I made my coffee finally and headed to the mountains.

the moral of the story is for sugarwood or any other jump starter i.e. you don't need jumper cables to start a car, especially if you have none, or you're in a tight spot!

Got a months worth of liability ins. a couple days ago for the 69E. It's been a year since it's had any exercise, so planning to get a temp plate for 700 yen and take it out for a few spins. Plans are also to see the local DMV and find out whether or not they will allow me to register the car if I do another safety inspection. Last one I did expired 3 months after the event and that was like 3 years ago. If I can pull that off, the car will be sellable domestically as a dealer car, something I'd been hoping for from the get go. Good luck!

You could jump start it for me if it pleases you. That is one of your gifts.
