1995 - 911 Cabriolet - What is it worth?
I ran across this '97 993 Cab with 155K miles. Garaged (covered) for the last couple years by an elderly gentleman. Looks in very good condition. All original.
Thoughts on price? Hagerty shows #3 around $35K or so. I am more familiar with G Body and their engine strength v. mileage, so would welcome thoughts on the mileage for this model. Maintenance since sitting (change gas, oil, brake fluid, etc.) ![]() ![]() ![]() |

993 Cabs in relationship to 993 coupes are considered a great buy.
993's are tanks and this car should be easily returned to duty as a daily driver. It appears to be a nice car. If it didn't have 155,000 miles, it would be worth easily $48,000 to $50,000. In my opinion this car is at least worth $40 to $43,000. The 3.6L motor is just broken in. I would check on its simple maintenance and update if I bought. Does it have records? Here is a 70,000 mile Comp for $45,000 and this car not as nice; https://www.pcarmarket.com/auction/dealtank-1997-porsche-993-cabriolet-3/

Thanks for the feedback on the price and maintenance. Turns out, car has been serviced and run periodically which is encouraging. Car has service records. Interior has some wear on the seats but overall in good condition. Seller's price expectation at Hagerty #3, so definitely priced right in the ball park.
I am not a fan of the center stack (with space phone), wood grain or chrome wheels. I do like the color combo and think it is a solid car. With 155k on the clock this car is clearly a driver (which is good for my purposes) so probably less concerned about removing the phone tower, replacing the wood and changing the wheels. However, not sure if there is a market for these less desirable retro details, which as pointed out, were definitely a costly upgrade. My gut tells me to change out the pieces with factory original used parts to make it look better and make it more enjoyable to me even though it will not be original any longer. I am wrong? Should I leave it as is as a relic? |

Your car, make it what you want.

I think when you go sell it, hardly anyone will care if the original trim and accessories are gone, unless you replace them with some tacky preposterous carbon fiber bits or other things that totally don't belong there. Personally I love wood trims, but I know I'm in a minority.

If it limits your knee room, the center stack can be removed and replaced with the standard console (you'll have to re-fit the window lifts/e-flasher and aux switches to the new console) and buy a standard ash tray.
The alternative is to send the center stack off to someone like Classic 9 and have them re-configure and reupholster it, adding any additional gauges you may want, or a shelf for your phone, or a big-ass entertainment system, your call. |

Picked up a 993 cab last year, 62k miles. Maybe it was the tiptronic, it sure was a bargain that I couldn't resist. I see it as a retro GT car, something like a early 928. Not a sports car but a fun commuter car. A manual would help but it will still lack the light feel of a early F or G body 911.
