Knowing that a halfway decent respray is around $15k, what sort of money does a backdate cost when you get someone else to do all of the work?
I don’t mean wide arch, everything new type thing, more a keep the car the same colour and swap over the panels.

$20k body work alone, no interior

Thanks. Was that a colour change?
Door jams, inside the engine and front are pretty time consuming to paint as well for a colour change.

That’s body work and respray the backdated body work in same color. Call Werks 11 in Temple, Texas. They will give you an estimate of all the specifics.

Don Ramsey? That's my cousins name up in Canada. Kansas, are you serious? You have 9 children and have managed to hold onto all your Porsches and other cars? Just incredulous. I admire that and you for it. All kids from the same wife? If so even more admirable. I only had one child, got started late. Are you planning any more? I'm out of time for that, but your story on life is quite intriguing...

Thanks - I might just do that! :)

With the yellow car? That would be so awesome.

Either that or with an 81 sc. :)
Seems a shame to mess your old special order paint Carrera. I guess it would be a nice backdated color though!

The point of the color was that it is a 74-77 Carrera color. It would make for an amazing backdate. It’s reversible if you do the latch up from without moving it.

It is tempting.

Was chasing a 65 912 today, but the owners a bit of an idiot (or very cunning).

I asked for pictures of the floor and they lifted the carpet to show me how un rusted the insulation is. Pretty much every picture missed the point (picture inside the wheel arch shows darkness and the edge of the arch nice and bright). No picture of the underside as requested. Picture of inside the hood shows how nicely painted the fuel tank is and little in the way of images around it.
Too much risk to spend the thick end of $35k on sight unseen.

Backdating does seem like a good route to follow - especially basing it on a known quantity of your own cars.

I appreciate the kind words. Yes, the kids are all from the same wife. You know us crazy Catholics...no divorce and no birth control. Thank goodness we can drink and gamble!🤣
Didn’t mean to mislead, but although I’ve owned all those different cars, it’s only ever been one at a time. I’m just a regular middle class guy who got lucky and bought a 964 cheap back when they were “dogs” . Since then, I’ve just traded up and down for other 911s. And I don’t miss my 964 at all! It’s been my least satisfying 911.
